Does Muschamp keep Mangus to try and bring McIlwain in or is he gone to baseball?
Nah apparently McIlwain really likes Kurt Roper. Roper recruited him at Duke and Florida
eta- Bobby Bentley coming in some capacity. Unsure if on field position coach or offensive analyst

His son will probably end up here as well.
The QB position that plagued Muschamp at Florida is about to be FLUSH with talent.

JC Schurbert tweeted that Kurt Roper will be hired as OC. On my phone so can't link.

I know it is still early, but what is the staff budget? What will we be paying Travaris Robinson? I'm guessing around $1 mil.

I don't think it will be a blank check exactly but he will have a ton of money to throw around. Spurrier had the same opportunity but didn't give a frick.
And since this is Robinson's first coordinating gig I'm think he'll get closer to $750,000 than $1mil

Also said we are trying to hire Lance Thompson, the LB coach at Auburn

I want to know how the search went down from scrooster

Really pretty simple.
1. Georgia undercut us with Smart by firing Richt. To quote Bear: "Mama called."
2. Herman played Tanner to get more money from Houston, gambling he gets one of the really "top jobs" in D1. Also Houston sees him as an important cog should the B-12 add any more teams.
3. Now Rich Rod, Ray's third choice, jumped the gun and said he was staying in the desert when no offer had been made. This is confusing.
4. We hired Muschamp and you know the rest.
Is this correct, Rooster?

Rich Rod never got an offer. MUSChamp was number 3

I see what you've done there, and I like it.

I feel it went like this
Ray gets phone call and sees:
Ray hires muschamp
Ray gets phone call and sees:
Ray hires muschamp

Reported that MUSChamp has a 5 year deal worth 3 mil a year. Puts him at the bottom of the SEC with Derek Mason probably being the only exception (his salary isn't public)
Probably means theres even more money for assistants, especially since neither of the coordinators should get 7 figures

Well, as I understand it we had Herman in the bag until LSU feigned firing Les and then it turned crazy .... a Jumbo, Les, Herman triangle with potential openings for Herman at FSU or LSU. That gave him the taste of his worth in the marketplace and then we lose to The Citadel and he decided to back out that night ... he's holding out for the Texas job.
Fuente did not vet-out and realized no SEC school was going to touch him so he jumped on the Va Tech job ... good move by him and good move for Va Tech.
Kirby ... yep. UGA started on him within days of Spurrier retiring. They were not going to let him get away.
Rich Rod is full of shite. We interviewed him but he was never offered. It was obligatory because he faxed in his resume. He's been called-out and he is shutting-up. He's not going to push that any further.
mUSChamp was going to be the guy since Tuesday or early Wednesday. He started making calls and assembling his staff late Tuesday night. Contract issues with Auburn has delayed the official announcement, but it's a done deal of course.
Robinson is going to make $650,000 I'm told. Roper is being negotiated ... it could end up around a million. The whole staff combined is going to be the highest paid staff in our history.
Bently is going to coach RBs ... plus he is a strong recruiter in this state.
Joe Rob may be kept on as ST coach ... that is up in the air right now. He's keeping his fingers crossed and so are a few of us on his behalf.
Seems like Boom is on point. Calls are already being made to recruits. We're going to begin seeing quite a few new names pop-up on the recruiting trail beginning this week. Cars are being gased-up and lined-up, jets are fueled, phones assigned, same old numbers .... they are going to hit the ground running.
No definitive word on Elliott, Junior or Mangus but it has been implied to me that all three of them would be last resort hires.

You got a feel for who the other coaches are gonna be?
Sounds like the talk about Burton Burns coming was a bunch of shite if Bentley is gonna coach RBs. And it didn't make any sense to me why he would come here when he already has an associate head coach title at Bama

As it was conveyed to me Boom was ready to sign a $3.2 million a year deal with an automatic rollover to five years each year he met all the benchmarks.
As I understand it we went hard at Lincoln Kennedy with over a million a year to be the OC ... Oklahoma is expected to match it and keep him and even name him as Assistant HCIW so he became un-gettable.
Applewhite was talking but it was not constructive and never went anywhere ... at least as of this morning.
mUSChamp wants Roper and we're offering close to a million with incentives.
Robinson is supposed to come around $650,000 last I heard which almost doubles his current salary. Plus he gets a guaranteed contract. I imagine Roper will as well.
This entire staff is going to be well paid.
Also, they'll be hitting the recruiting trail armed with promises of early playing time and artists' renditions of the new facilities that they'll see if they sign here.

Any word on the DL coach? I have seen both Lawing and Tracy Rocker being mentioned? Also, what capacity, if any, would we hire Ellis Johnson for?

Honestly once all this talk about Muschamp happened, I whined about it for a little bit, I even got a little salty, and then as time passed I warmed up to the possibility that we could at least do something with him and I got over it.
It's done, it's happening, now I get to have some cynical laughs about it while also hoping for the best at the same time.
Muschamp I feel is going to be an awful hire, but I'm still going to remain a Gamecock fan through it all because...well, that's the team I love. Plain and simple.
I look forward to many more seasons of posting, laughing, melting, and hopefully celebrating with all of the people on the SEC Rant. As most of y'all know, this was my first season on the Rant. A real rough season for sure, but it was full of some crazy shite along the way.
Anyways, it's the beginning of a new era today! Let's see who he hires and what he can do and try to make the most of it.
