There it is.

yep, if it somehow becomes actual (and I don't think it will though) we're going to need to edit in Ray Tanner and Pres Pastides.

This makes me wonder about how much legs Herman to USC had when all of this started. I wonder if he's just been lobbying for a pay raise at UH the entire time.
A lot of people are saying this right now ... and it's probably true.
He played Tanner from the get go. He was actually very good at it for that matter. Played him like a drum, and Tanner was willing to be played in an attempt to appease his BOTs and the fans.

Guys with all the hullabaloo about Herman and Smart I completely forgot about my first choice for the job.
I'm officially back on the Shane Beamer pain train
Would much rather see him hired than Muschamp, Richt, Riley, Fedora and mother fricking Bisaccia

I just finished listening to a live interview with Tom Herman on the D.A. Show on CBS Sports Radio .... he's not leaving Houston. He loves it there. He considers Texas his home state now, he has a good relationship with all the high school coaches ... he didn't come right out and say it, but he's not leaving there. He said he is very close to having as deal done with Houston that will keep him there for a long time. He feels very confident the deal will be finalized within the next few days, before the Championship Game this weekend.

That was the first name that I thought made a lot of sense waaaay back when, and if he's seriously in play, I'm on board.
I don't think that he will ultimately be hired (as the fan reaction hasn't been too positive), but I do think that he could realistically build something that would be long-term sustainable.
I'm all about finding someone who *wants* to be here, and who wants to make this their job. Elliott, Bisaccia, Beamer, and Muschamp are really the only guys who fit that criteria. Throwing a bunch of money at someone isn't going to get it done. It has to be someone who understands the unique challenges, and also unique advantages (and there are many) of this job. Beamer definitely fits that box.
Also, Lincoln Riley could really be that guy, too. Whoever takes the gig has to have a few years of grace ahead of them before we start becoming seriously competitive again. Let's hope that the fanbase is more patient with those gains than we certainly have been during the search.

Waiting on the Texas payday in his future. I can't blame him.

Herman is going to look real stupid if Texas ends up hiring Chip Kelly and he's stuck at Houston.

I hope to God this happens. Dude is a hire whore. And along with Texas hiring Kelly and being stuck at Houston, I hope they tank and never win another fricking game.
And I heard about Smart to UGA. It's looking more and more like we are seriously in deep trouble here.

Exactly, he's not a lock to get the texas job. if Strong starts doing well, he could be there another 10 years (if he makes some playoffs, wins some Big12's.)
aTm might open if Sumlin keeps underperforming though.

As soon as that job opened, we knew that was going to happen. He's an alum-player and has been searching for an SEC HC job for years. He would've chosen that job over any job in the country as his first HC job.

Didn't Skai say his staying next year was dependent upon who we hired as HC?
He must've gotten tired of this whole fricked up mess, too, since he announced today he was outta there.
ETA: Probably figured by the time we actually get around to picking thru the trash to hire a HC it would be too late to declare for the draft.

Might as well just accept it, guys. We're gonna end up with Muschamp.

I think we're getting Pruitt.

We can always hope for this to happen:
Then we could say:
Muschamp...Petrino but with a boat.

Tanner killed his legacy.....

I know we can't hire anyone away mid season, but how the hell is everyone getting their coach before us? Shouldn't we have had some people lined up or something? What good is a fricking search committee do when other teams are firing and hiring people right past us?
