If LSU is dumb enough to fire Miles, it seems like a lot of their fans really want Herman.

I agree. Does everyone feel that it's still Herman? I know a few folks who are on the Kirby Smart bandwagon. Corey Miller made it known that he wants Smart.
I still believe it is going to be Herman.
Corey Miller wants Kirby and has been promoting the helloutta him for personal reasons. He got to know Kirby real well during the recruitment of, and subsequent signing of, his son by Alabama.
If Corey were to get his wish it would mean an instant inside contact for Corey here at SCAR, which is something he has not had under Spurrier because Spurrier learned very early on that Corey is in this for personal gain, no matter what unfortunately. Corey cannot keep his mouth shut.

I tied those two together (Miller and Smart), just didn't know Corey's reasoning behind it. Makes sense though. I am all about Herman, but hearing a different perspective this weekend made me wonder.

LSU will not fire Miles this year.
We are going to have a new HC by the end of the Conf Champsionships game, if not sooner. If Navy beats Houston, I think we will get Herman on Monday. If we don't get Herman that week, then I think it might end up being Smart after the SECCG.

I hope that you are right about Miles and LSU. By the looks of the rant and coaching changes board, you would think he has already been fired.

It sounds like a bunch of wishful thinking to me. The man has a 15m buyout.

LSU wouldn't have to pay him 15 million if he retires.
That said I don't see him going anywhere. Much more likely he overhauls the offensive coaching staff and tries to bring his offense into he 21st century

It's too late for LSU to get Herman.

Is it weird to think that, in the extremely unlikely case that Richt and Miles are both gone, I'd be ecstatic to have them here?

I'd Richt were at Carolina, 3-8 would be the norm, not the exception. He can't coach for shite. He's been successful because he's got the only program in the state of Georgia, and he has an army of sidewalkers recruiting for him on a daily basis.
He'd get processed, embarrassed, and defeated within three years here.

The man averages 10+ wins a year over 10 years. We'd all be happy with half the success he and Miles have had.
Especially if he brought his army of side-walkers here.

My point is that he has the UGA fanbase recruiting for him. They're tired of him at UGA, and they certainly aren't going to actively tell Georgia high school kids to follow Richt to Columbia. Richt would be a monumental failure at SC.
To borrow a phrase from Trump, he's also a notoriously low-energy person. There's nothing about Richt that is a good fit for what USC needs right now.

So let's say it's Herman. There's now talk of Mullen possibly going to VT (he'd be dumb not to if you ask me). If there's any credence to that, and I'm Herman, I'm calling Bud Foster as soon as I can.

Not many people would be happy with 5 wins a year for 20 years.
And that's what both Richt and Miles would do here. They are benefactors of great recruiting and being in talent rich states. Yearly they squander it.
I'd be furious if Tanner even considered either of them.

Someone posted on fb that Les Miles is supposed to have a presser on ESPN at 1pm today.
Not sure how much truth there is to it..haven't had time to really check it out.
ETA: Damn ppl overreact just a tad...it's LSU's normal weekly presser that always happens on Mondays.

Every seems to forget Mike Leach..Look what he has done as Washington State. He is in a very difficult place to recruit and has them competing for a Pac 12 title.
His flamboyant and USC what have an embarrassing wealth of Wide Receivers and QB's

I missed it ... what did he say?

Not much. Pointed out the media said he was going to Michigan back in 2007 and that was wrong.
Most significant thing he said was that he isn't considering retirement. So LSU is gonna have to pony up 15 million bucks if they really want him gone.
And that doesn't include buyouts for assistant coaches, so its very unlikely anything hes going anywhere

So, Miles isn't going anywhere?
