He will be an academic redshirt.

How does that work, exactly?

From the NCAA, the stipulations for an academic redshirt are: A college-bound student-athlete may receive athletics aid (scholarship) in the first year of enrollment and may practice in the first regular academic term (semester or quarter) but may NOT compete in the first year of enrollment

Very solid class. Big improvements in talent at DL, DB, solid improvements at OL, and of course the big QB addition. Not a great class, but very solid. The staff should be able to do work with this group, and it could be the backbone of a very strong program for the next 3-4 seasons...

This is interesting:

This is pretty amazing.

South Carolina’s 2019 class average rating is .8909. That’s the highest ever for SC and the first time we’ve averaged a 4 star rating.

Great news, and I think alot of people are sleepin on/forgetting about Jamal Cook. Our defense is going to be vastly improved.

Conway, I think we fell short at rb and lb where do you see us missing out?

In terms of rb i see where you are coming from, but this class was very top heavy in terms of top backs, and none really had much if any intrest in us.

2020 is a much deeper class and we will be taking backs in that class.

Lb yea ball was dropped imo.

Y'all should see the hordes of taters on Twitter suddenly chirping that recruiting rankings don't matter.

Derek Boykins will be a good one for us. Lots of big time offers for a very physical LB that likes to bring it!

Per Will Muschamp's presser yesterday. We offered 5 players in the state of SC. Signed all 5.

I've probably said this more times than I can count but SC will never be a state that has talent that we can build a roster from top to bottom - but what we can do is nab the cream of the crop from the state and then build around that with solid talent from neighboring states. That's exactly how we did during that 4 year run with Spurrier - Gilmore, Jeffrey, Lattimore, and Clowney mixed with the likes of a Shaw Ingram, or Sanders.

I agree and I think Muschamp is doing just that. We have passed on some instate kids for various reasons so he is being selective. The ones we have gotten, for the most part, have been very good additions.
