Out of 3 or 4 SOLID candidates (and I wouldn't say beamer is solid), that's that's the best we can do?

Look I don't hate the guy, but we don't need an untested commodity leading us right now. We need a Lou Holtz type coach. Someone who knows how to build a program, and build a culture. At this point I'd rather have Coastal's Coach than Beamer.

If we hire Beamer, start saving buyout money because we're going to have to spend it in 3 years.

JW
Completely unrelated

But did you also think this with Muschamp when he was hired

My honest opinion is, if we're trading Muschamp for Beamer, I'd rather hired back Muschamp.

Yea I’ll pass on that one

But you didn’t answer the question about Muschamp when hired

I made a thread about hiring Beamer instead of Muschamp back then.

Completely different situation tho. We don’t have Texas, UGA, and VT taking up the coaches we’re after.

I thought Muschamp was a terrible hire
I’m not sold on Beamer as much as the other 3
But I’d feel better hiring him, than I did when we hired Muschamp

I thought it wasn't unreasonable. I supported coach Muschamp when many didn't. That changed about 1/4 the way through the A&M game this year.

Obviously, you're smarter than me.

What is really irritating me about this search is that the insiders over at 247 refuse to acknowledge how ridiculous it is that we're actually considering Beamer because they know he is good for their access to the program, and they don't want to screw it up -- and the fanbase over there is just eating it up.

What got us to this position? Hiring a proven loser. What is the logical way to remedy that? Hiring a proven winner.

What are we doing? Hiring an unproven anything.

If I had to guess right now... 90% It's Beamer, 10% it's someone else. Should be announced Sunday or Monday.

I don't know what to think about Beamer, like I said I don't get all the hype, I guess it will come down to the staff he puts together we'll have to see. We won't know for at least 5 years if he is a winner or not. Hoping for the best.

Yeah, I'd never in 1,000,000 consider rehiring Muschamp. It just goes to show how much I DISLIKE the idea of a Beamer hire.

Look all I’m saying is that we canned Muschamp to get a head start and we have all of these great options available, but we are seriously considering the worst of all the names mentioned? Not only has the guy never been a HC, he’s never been a OC/DC either. Look if we are determined to hire the son of a great head coach then hell call Skip, at least he has some skins on the wall.

Getting rid of Muschamp to hire Beamer is like breaking up with an ugly girl just to date her twin sister that’s 30 minutes younger who ain’t never sucked a dick before.

We should hope that last time taught us numerous lessons, most of which is that you pursue winners, make the job seem too attractive to turn down, then dish out the cash necessary to get them.

It should have also taught us that Ray Tanner has no clue what the frick he is doing, yet here he is, leading the search for the head of the biggest revenue stream at our university once again.

Shane Beamer recruited for a program led by Steve Spurrier, in one of the most fertile recruiting landscapes in the history of our state, at a time when Clemson, UGA, UNC, and UF were not getting whoever they wanted. NONE of those factors are reality now, yet it’s the only justification for him that anyone seems to care about.

This is a time for new blood who can bring new beginnings. Freeze, Napier, and Chadwell are new blood. Re-hashing the past doesn’t necessarily mean it will get better than where we are currently - there are a lot of obstacles for a first time HC like Beamer to traverse.

Alright, I’ve rambled enough about this
