Brad Edwards would be great buutt a AD is judged on the athletic department not just football. Mens bball looks solid. Womens bball is elite. Women just won sec tourny in soccer. The department is making money. So is Tanner as bad as everyone says or are we letting the football failure overrule everything else?

He negotiated a $22mm buyout for Muschamp.
And then it goes down to 18m if he stays passed Dec 31

Will fricking Muschamp has one of the highest buyouts in CFB.
WILL MUSCHAMP

And then after that yes, who cares about anything else when football sucks
Men’s basketball second, the rest whatever , that’s College athletics for ya
And until basketball even sniffs the tourney again, that stinks too. The final four run allure has left

Maybe it was just me then.
I was pretty anti tanner during the hiring process
Remember his name being thrown around, but could have just been message board banter

I heard this back in September and posted on here about it. I’ll have to find my old thread. The person who told me worked alongside Tanner for his first four or five years as AD. No longer with the athletic dept though.

I remember your post and told a few people about it but as devil's advocate lets look at Tanner in a different way:
As I posted in another thread the AD is over the athletic department and our mens basketball team is looking good, womens basketball team is elite again, womens soccer team just won the SEC. The department is making money. So is Tanner being misjudged based off of the football failure?

Ray Tanner had nothing to do with either basketball program. Frank and Dawn were not his hires. Will Muschamp, promoting Chad Holbrook, and hiring Mark Kingston were his hires. Time will tell with Kingston, but Muschamp and Holbrook were failures. I don't think he's being judged just off football alone at this point.

Unfortunately for Tanner, while the AD may be making money, his hiring track record is his downfall. The insane extension and buyout for Muschamp was the death nail. Now we're stuck with Muschamp for at least one more season, with the idea of our 3rd OC and possibly even replacing our DC for a coach who's seat is hotter than Satan's. If we can pull anyone who's worth their salt, it'll be a miracle.

And yes, I remember you posting the same thing UC.

The department is making money

The department will always make money from advertisements, licensed products and TV.
From my understanding those are the big 3 in terms of amount, maybe I’m wrong but I would assume today those dollar amounts are far greater than ticket sales and donations.

What I did find was even on donations to the athletic program, the school takes a a cut.
Could be as high as 12-15% of a donation made to athletics.

I think regardless of our AD the first 3 won’t really have any issues, it’s the next 2 that hurt.

Football is number one here, it brings in the money, men’s basketball #2 and that’s because of TV.
A bad football team is not good, and when that keeps getting bad you’ll lose the two streams of donations and ticket sales for those games
So even though you’re still getting money from the first 3, you can never have “too much money” you need to always be finding ways for more.

I think at this point Tanner has soured many people who have lowered their donations, or just stopped them in total, and lowered or stop their ticket purchases
A new guy would bring life back into the program IMO
Especially one with actual experience

Excellent post. Probably the best, well thought out, researched post I've ever seen you make. No debating the fact the Tanner has to go after reading that.

I suggest you ask instead of guessing because you suck at guessing. I gave an honest comment about your post and as always you turn it into me being a jerk post.

You took that out of context friend. I saw your "never mind, I was wrong about Tanner" comments in another thread after you posted this one. It read as if you were backtracking. Therefore the healthiest erection I've had in years recessed at the thought of having to listen to Tanner or Muschamps BS another season.

Not sure I ever said that
Maybe it was someone else.
I got a pretty bad licking/bitching from our fanbase on a few sites for being skeptic about him.

You can be an alright dude but when you're wrong you just don't know how to admit it, apologize, and move on. This is what got you banned from CT.

I never once approved of Ray Tanner being hired
Tanner being hired was actually one of the things that got me Banned
I bad mouthed him big time.
Especially since I defended Hyman

Now don't get so triggered especially since I was talking about my post giving you credit and you accusing me of sarcasm.
Damn after all this time and just the memory of Spurticus gets you all out of sorts.
