Badges? We don't need no stinking badges!

I agree with this - the one caveat is being adults and not lemmings

Nail meets hammer. I like the Rant but the east schools need to recruit new members so their boards can get to a critical mass and enhance the overall board. Homer boards are great but the beauty of the Rant is a meet and mingle place for all SEC fans.

No, they are not.

Reading cockytalk makes my eyes and brain hurt. I don't even lurk that place anymore.

Eta: GC is 100 times worse too

I meant homer boards are great for homer fans - the kind that kill trees and teabag opposing fans - with no ability to reach beyond a singular view. If you are on the Rant in the first place the chances are good you can at least listen to a different view. Not saying you can accept it, but at least you can hear it. That is a big step many never get beyond in true homerism.

We need more Gamecock content around here though. I'd be willing to bet there are one or two writers around here that could put together some good stuff if they wanted.

I'm honored, but I'd suck at being a moderator. I'm too old and I'd treat all my fellow Gamecock fans like my sons or grandkids and that means they would get away with murder.

Others, not family, meh, ban hammer'em all let God sort'em out.

In my head I'm still 21, but when I wake up in the morning and limp to the mirror I am slapped back to reality.

CNB, IMHO you and Cayce and Conway should do it by committee. Loather, CIYE ... et al, would be good too.

I figured Chicken was going to want us to have an admin, or two, sooner or later with all the plans for growth and expansion and all that. Before they do that though, if they are really serious about it, then they need to improve their PM system, open-up lines of communication between members and mods, and develop a promotional (PR) system that supports its community members while encouraging participation and interaction and awarding model behavior and contribution.

Otherwise the board does not need a moderator. It's doing fine now, for what it is. Problem is that it is not likely to grow much in its current state. It's a conundrum of sorts.

I agree with pretty much all this.

I think what ATL was pointing out above was that you (SCRooster) could help with developing content. I meant what I wrote on a thread a while ago, you know your Gamecock History. If you wrote, "Back when Coach Morrison or Dietzel was here," stories I'd read/post in them.

I think as far as content, this board is actually growing faster than the other "New" boards to this site. Seriously, look at the other New boards. We have over 18 threads started/engaged upon in the past 4 days.

Vandy - 1
Tenn - 13
Mizz - 25
Kent - 11
UF - 1
UGA - 25+

I think we've grown rather well. Without the merger of ole dawgrant to the secrant, that ugaboard would have looked like the USC board now. Mizzou's tigerboard.com is atrocious, the format is horrible, so I totally understand why so many of their fans migrated to this board.

We''re continuing to get people that want to post on here, many don't even cheer for the Gamecocks. The board will develop overtime, but I agree, having engaging content would help that. It doesn't even have to be "good," just engaging....

I might suggest a single thread with a sticky to collect links to such threads. Like an story and history index thread.

Everyone should create an alter and then we'll run a pick from the hat type scenario. Then sit back and watch chaos proliferate as nobody will truely know who the admin is.

A "Back in My Day" - Hosted on the porch/bar stool of Scrooster? I like it.
