Not saying i love muschamp but some things need to be considered here..
spurrier beat bama in year 6. In year 4 and 5 spurrier won 7 games each season.
His schedule wasnt near as hard in those early years as Muschamps schedule right now.
The reason i think many sc fans are irritated with champ is because of the success spurrier had for a time.
I am going to hold off from jumping ship just yet. We have a great looking qb who just started his first sec game vs a possible national champion.
and tagovailoa, judy and ruggs make all defenses look silly.
the season starts for me on saturday. lets see how the team performs against a much more pedestrian sec team.

Spurrier had like 7 top 25 wins his first 5 years

Well, Champ is on game 4 of year 4..He finally has a qb that can distribute the rock..another 22 games, at least to work on matching that. the point is its hard to compare the two. this schedule is absolutely the hardest schedule nationally this year.
And we definitely win unc with Hilinski. All im saying is that my particular clock for wins is now starting.
Muschamp was in a hard place with Bentley. He was a senior and was set to break a lot of records. He deserved the first shot.
Now that is all mute anyway as we have an upgrade at the position for 3 years.
I am actually looking forward to what can happen going forward now that we have a qb who can place the ball where it needs to be.
Now the defense needs to step up..Thats on Muschamp. I do have a feeling we will drop games this year 38-35 though. That defense is far from good.

Muschamp has one win against a top 25 team in year 5
And was a failure at his last stop, which was Florida
I guess for the time being I’m still going to “wait” since his buyout is so large
But I don’t think we will ever get to the level of those top Spurrier teams

We may not. But i surely am expecting some big wins in the next 3 years under Hilinski. Talent is definitely being added to our roster.
Visualize the talent he inherited in 2015 vs what we have now. Its a significant jump in talent.
Even Gary Danielson said so. He also compared Hilinski with trevor lawrence and jake from a talent standpoint as freshman. That doesnt mean we win but it gives me a big boost from that unc debacle.

I don’t follow recruiting like most, so i just look at the rankings/our commitments
I don’t see it

He’s not on the same level as Trevor IMO(when he was a Frosh). But that would be nice
For Jake: I would hope not.
From my own views Ryan he threw the ball much nicer than Jake did as a Freshman
And even threw it much nicer now than Jake has as a Sr

I meant jake fromm..not jake from his freshman year..lol

Gary knows about Alabama, and that's it. He wouldn't know a damn thing about this program unless it came in the media guide.
Champ is a shitty coach.

Okay well that extra M is big
I can see that in terms of talent he has
But we don’t have the talent around him that they have

Hilinski is better than Bentley was his freshman year, but the way Bentley has regressed each year is alarming enough to be cautious about Hilinski's future.
The sting of a 7-6 season is much easier to handle when there is at least one top 25/unexpected upset in there. That was always the case with Spurrier's first few years, not so much with Muschamp.
To think we're finally going to hit our stride in Muschamp's 7th year when the likes of Clemson, UGA, and A&M are getting exponentially better each year is misguided at best. Muschamp was dealt a tougher hand than Spurrier, but that doesn't mean we should just settle with sometimes playing good teams close. I want to see tangible progress, and it's not happening.

I agree that RH is the real deal, but we were also saying the same thing about JB in his first year. My biggest concern, and one of the reasons I don't know if we can win under Muschamp, is the defense. The defense has really regressed. Remember, we actually put up decent offensive numbers last year, but the defense had issues. The same issues we had last year, are still present this year on the defense. We can't tackle, guys always seem out of position, and honestly we look small (especially at LB).

I agree with this 100%. This is what is finally pushing me off the Champ bandwagon. Not only do we not upset teams, we don't even play them close. I mean when was the last time we played a top team close? We are not even competitive in those games.

Lou Holtz didn't screw Spurrier over by leaving him a team with no talent.

I disagree with this to a degree.

There is still a Lou Holtz player on a NFL roster right now. Jonathan Joseph for the Texans. Players would kill to have that kind of career longevity.

Same.
Actually if anything the east was far better
Tennessee won the East in 07 and weren’t the Dumpster fire they are today
Florida won 2 titles in the span of 3 years
Georgia wasn’t what they are now but won the east 4 times in his Tenure and in 07 when they didn’t win it finished the season ranked 2nd
Missouri won the east twice as well

Much better.
Looking at the early Spurrier years...
UF had Tebow.
UGA was consistently highly ranked.
TN wasn't dogshit yet.
Arkansas was really good and was always a matchup nightmare for Spurrier.
We also played more West teams, which meant going up against good LSU and Auburn teams.

I still have nightmares of the McFadden in 07
We knew it was coming!
Literally running up in the “wildhog” and still couldn’t stop him
321 yards rushing... oh and he threw a TD pass
Also the 2010 team that won the east, my freshman year we came in to that game ranked
If we won we woulda won the east that night
They torched us.
That Arky team was really good. They too got fricked by Cam Newton
