Losses to UGA, UK, Mizzou, a&M, Ole Miss, UF and Clemson
5-7 no bowl

I think it depends on how well Bentley plays. He came against us very careless. He has to grow up
Posted on 9/9/18 at 4:20 pm to Bossbailey34
He's a junior. That should have already happened. Fromm is a sophomore and is light years ahead of Bentley.

I'll give you Clemson. But you think we are going to lose to 5 unranked teams because we were hosed by the #3 team in the nation?

there's a bad trend that exists in the program. USC hasn't won its 1st home SEC game of a season - since Shaw's SR year.
2014 - Texas AM 28-52
2015 - Kentucky 22-26
2016 - Texas AM 13-24
2017 - Kentucky 13-23
2018 - Georgia 17-41
the good news is in each of those seasons, USC has won its 2nd SEC home game.
the hype around Columbia is always big for the SEC home opener each year, not matter the opponent. the Gamecocks have rarely played well in SEC openers, even in the wins. who knows why, but it's real.
as for the rest of this season, USC won't see anywhere near the level of talent/depth/efficiency it played this weekend until Thanksgiving.
Gamecocks have to collectively get their shite together and heads out their asses, but the home schedule brings the 2 best remaining East offenses USC will play to W-B. Oxford will be a shootout as Ole Miss' defense is hard to find words bad.
Saturday was a forgetful nightmare we've lived through before. USC got its "WTF" home SEC game outta the way and I guess I'd rather it be against a team we likely wouldn't beat 8/10 times - instead of shitting our britches against a team we should beat 8/10 times.
final thought on UGa game - I checked the box score when I got home and sobered up, and damn if #4 wasn't credited with having made any tackles - solo/assisted. that can't happen with any of our LBs the rest of the year if the defense is gonna stop anyone.

GW .... fwiw, I agree with you.
IMHO some of our fans are overreacting to this loss. This team will regroup in a hurry I'm pretty sure. Bentley actually showed a ton of improvement imho, stayed in the pocket and delivered some bullets ... he had five passes dropped that should have been caught. One of those by Deebo no less.
This is not the Gamecocks of old. There will be no letdown.
Oh, and while I'm thinking about it ... Coastal Carolina is going to prove to be a much better team this hyear than anyone is giving them credit for yet.
UGA is just a beast.
This team will work hard this week and come back strong against Marshall before heading to Vandy and then Kentucky. We should win both of those. Then we get Mizzou at home, correct? They'll be coming off of a beat down by UGA.
After we beat Mizzou we'll be back on track.
I'll be in Vegas this year for Kentucky and I'm betting our Gamecocks to handle Kentucky this year ... frick it. Might as well. This team will show some serious resolve in coming weeks.

As overrated and disappointing as Ricardo Hurley.

I'm with you on this rooster. We had a couple wtf bad luck bounces in first quarter. But our depth ran out as expected and uga just kept filing them in.
Thoughts. I thought Bentley played well considering we flat out abandoned the running game from the start trying to fool uga.
Dowdle can not catch worth a shite.
Ty'son proved to be the better running back in the game.
Where the hell was AJ if we were going to dump wheel routes and screens to rb's all game. The kid is made for that type of gameplan.
I'm really disappointed in the lack of use of AJ.
Defensively we got hashed on a couple angle runs and think we serverely underrated ugas speed.
Horn is going to be a great DB for us.

Wow, how the mighty Cock fan has fallen. In one Saturday you guys have gone from “We are gonna beat those Bulldogs” to “We are going 6-6 with losses to Mizzou, Ole Miss and UK”.
That was quick.
That was quick.

Ban this bitch.
They'd have a fricking shitfit if we said this shite to them on their board.

Save your pot shots for the rant. Half the damn purpose of the team boards is so fans - including from opposing schools - can actually talk about games without it immediately collapsing into a shite heap.

And, one day, if there is no longer college football, we'll find some other reason to get together and have fun. That's fine with me.
to many fun things to do in this world to get bent out of shape over a game you dont coach or play in.

We thought that the team would compete, and it did, but for a half. I don't think more than two fans were actually predicting a victory.
Now we recognize serious deficiencies in the team, and have adjusted predictions accordingly. It's not that hard.

Bentley doesnt have Sam Pittmans boys blocking for him, a stable of RBs like us, or some of the top TEs in the country. Its really that simple imho.

Not to mention Fromm wasn't exactly playing lights out in the first half.

As soon as we threw the pick-6 I knew it was over. My 7 y/o was playing in the basement while I was watching the game, and I basically called what was going to happen the rest of the game at that point. Unfortunately, it came to pass. :(
For us to have had ANY chance to win against a team like UGA, we can't play catch up. Especially when your down two scores 1/2 through the 1st quarter. Especially when they get the ball to start the second half. It alters the offensive play calling too much on both sides of the ball. Our team is not built to play come from behind football without defensive turnovers. The defense was gassed by the 3rd quarter. We really missed DJ not being in there at D-end.
Well bounce back, but this one stings.

My only point is Bentley is good but doesnt have the supporting cast yet. Now if I had to pick I would pick Fromm but then Im admittedly a little bias. Fromm reminds us of Arron Murray. Very bright talented kid that may/may not succeed at the next level but is a heck of a college qb.

I know, I only meant to say that to pull the Cock fans off the ledge who suddenly think we're suddenly a 5-7 team.
