It’s not going to be Milton. Talked to someone at the Long Ops building today, and I was told it wasn’t him. Nobody is even sure if he will be 100 percent ready by the fall.

quote:

• Surgery to repair the lateral collateral ligament and the posterior cruciate ligament. There was no torn anterior cruciate ligament, the most common tear with dislocated knee injuries and the most important ligament in the knee. No medial collateral ligament tear or torn meniscus (also typical). "Usually, you tear everything," Milton says. "The doctors can't explain it. If I didn't have nerve damage, I'd probably be playing this year."

As gruesome as the injury sounds, that last quote actually makes it sound promising. It's like a CFB player suffering a broken bone, instead of torn ligaments. Broken bones could still end a season for the player, but they typically tend to heal faster and stronger than torn ligaments, and mostly do not inhibit the athleticism of the player, once everything heals, of course.

So the most seriousness of the injury to Milton, from reading all this, was the damaged artery(s) and the nerve damage. The ACL and MCL sustained no damage, which is good, but there still had to be surgeries for the PCL and LCL, but those are generally considered not as serious injuries as the ACL. Still, ligament damage is ligament damage.

I agree with you on doubts that Milton will ultimately be the guy we take - or perhaps the rumors that there are 2 guys, and Milton is the #2 guy. Our top 2 guys for 2020 (Hilinski and Doty) will be dealing with off-season injuries - bringing in another QB who's dealing with even worse injuries to add depth to them is just sheer stupidity.

Hopefully there's some totally healthy QB guy out there for our staff to go after, otherwise those walk-ons I mentioned above will start to look better to me....
