Yeah. And from what I understand he is actually a good kid but was hanging with the wrong crowd. It's between us and Ole Miss. Ole Miss has proximity at their advantage, but he is a Greenwood kid, and I imagine he would enjoy playing in front of a hometown crowd.

They have that whole NCAA investigation hanging over their heads...so I'd definitely say we have the edge in that capacity as well. Not to mention we are trending up while Ole Miss just fell completely off the map.

3* DL Devonte Wyatt is a UGA commit who said,"“I talked to Coach Thompson two day ago,” Wyatt said. “He came to the school and we talked about my grades and things. He said they will still try to get me.”

About the strength of his Georgia commitment, Wyatt said, “It’s kind of strong, at about 70%. But there’s probably a chance of South Carolina getting me back. Coach Thompson is recruiting me hard.”

They can have fun with that.

apparently he's having fun too. Now he says it's 50-50.

He's a diamond in the rough for sure and I want him to come to UGA but his numbers for the year make me a little nervous for someone with his skill set. He played against 4 good teams and the rest were terrible.

I saw QB Joyner, a 2018 recruit, play tonight vs Dutch Fork. He is going to be good. Will be a very capable runner and has a good arm.

Roper was there watching him.

J. Williams just got knocked out of the state championship game with serious ankle injury. They taped him up but he hasn't been back in the game.

Seems premature to call it serious

Been following on twitter. Sounds like he's had some serious punt return yardage, even with some called back.

I guess serious is a matter of opinion. Dude was down for a good bit, limped off the field, and was in a lot of pain when they were checking him out and taping him up.

He had a 75 yard td run called back because of holding but that kid is electric. You guys got a great one.

WR Commit Chad Terrell got a bump in the rankings for the 247 Composite.

3* DE Brad Johnson is going to decide b/w SC, Va Tech and Tenn before NSD. His last 2 OV's are SC on the 13th and Tenn on the 20th.

4* OT TJ Moore, still has SC in the Final4, he spoke with Muschamp and is going to wait and see who we hire as the OL Coach. He'll OV in January as well.

I'll be absolutely shocked if we get him. He's Tennessee all the way because they have all but given him a written guarantee that he'll start on day one at OT ... or so I am being told. And again, really close family up in Knoxville, (daughter and) Son-In-Law who works for UTK (academics non-football related) along with others. My Dad is still alive and well into his 80s but he's still a Vol nut who follows recruiting above all else and who is connected up there. Plus one more guy, who we are adversarial but he's big in the media up there. He's really rubbing it in on me right now because he thinks we're living and dying by the Moore kid which I laugh at ... but we've had this hate relationship going-on for decades and he's usually on the money when it comes to what's going on up there.

We're pretty much wasting our time on Moore unless more, by instruction from us, is playing UT coaches for complete and total fools.

And finally ... Don Mahoney keeps telling everyone he is about to get a new contract and his offensive line is going to be better next year than they've ever been. So Moore sees this as some kind of stability plus deal ... and so does his Mother evidently. Whereas, his mother has gone on record as saying that Knoxville is not too close and not too far away.

I will not only be absolutely shocked if we sign Moore ... I'll be a little bit disappointed because he seems like a genuine prima donna.

Luke Stampini is the Florida 247 Insider and he is attending/evaluating at the Shrine Bowl camp this week.

4 Gamecocks made his Top10 Day Performers List.
https://southcarolina.247sports.com/Article/Day-1-Top-Performers-from-the-Shrine-Bowl-49756633

quote:

5. OT Eric Douglas (North Carolina)
South Carolina offensive line commit Eric Douglas showed toughness and decent mobility throughout the day. The 6-foot-5, 285-pound Charlotte,N.C. native really excelled during the inside run portion of the day where he flashed a mean streak. Long-term it’s likely he slides inside the guard, but he did look comfortable at left tackle on Monday.

quote:

7. LB Davonne Bowen (South Carolina)
South Carolina commit Davonne Bowen lined up as a defensive end with his hand in the dirt much of the day. However, standing at 6-foot-1, 225-pounds he is going to have to move back to a linebacker position in college. The move is typically less than ideal, but the Piedmont, S.C. showed the quick-twitch and explosion to be able to handle that transition. Bowen is a really intriguing defensive piece due to that great athleticism

quote:

8. S Hamsah Nasirildeen (North Carolina)
There is no better looking prospect, on the hoof, in this game than South Carolina commit Hamsah Nasirildeen. The 6-foot-4, 215-pounder is an imposing figure in the secondary and he flashes great closing speed. Nasirildeen sprinted downhill to thump a receiver on a slant to flash the potential he possesses. Unfortunately, that was all he was tested on the day, keeping his ranking on this list down a bit.

quote:

10. OT Summie Carlay (South Carolina)
South Carolina commit Summie Carlay looked to be the most technically sound offensive linemen during day one practice. The 6-foot-5, 280-pound Laurens, S.C. native did a great job of bending at his knees to keep his hips low and not get off balance during pass protection sets.

Then there are 2 guys we have a great shot with.

quote:

2. DE Brad Johnson (South Carolina)
Hybrid defensive end Brad Johnson from Pendleton, S.C. really flashed elite explosiveness and quickness during the morning session. The knock on Johnson will be his lack of ideal size standing in the 6-foot-2, 220-pound range, but his athleticism gives offensive linemen fits. South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia Tech are in his final three as each looks to add the versatile defender.

quote:

4. DE Matthew Butler (North Carolina)

Gerner, N.C. defensive end Matthew Butler used his power to rough off offensive linemen on Monday. The 6-foot-4, 260-pound prospect was able to get in the backfield on a regular basis with more than a bull rush as he mixed in a few spin moves to change up his repertoire and kept the tackles guessing. Tennessee, N.C. State, Duke and other are in the hunt for Butler as he will announce his school of choice later this month.

Stampini fricked up by listing us as 'other' lol

We got two Crystal Balls for Chalmers yesterday. Also, Tavyn Jackson firmed up his commitment after a visit from the staff.

Looks like we have a backup plan for missing on 3* OT Jerry Drake. Drake would've been a great add for the roster, but this guy seems pretty good too. I like his offer list, if the OL Coaches from WVU, Kent, Miss St and UNC wanted this guy (all coaches we have on our list of possible OL Coach replacements,) then he is probably an up and comer. Crook and Schlarman have a great eye for developing talent.

Rivals has him as a 5.7 3*.
https://n.rivals.com/content/prospects/181231
https://247sports.com/Player/Jordon-Carty-4663842

Word is he he's OV'ing next month, just had an in-home with Muschamp and TRob and already thinks he'll pick SC.

Sr Season Highlights

6'7" 265 lbs, but has quick feet. Really solid punch, but extends arms too long, needs to close the gap to hide holding. Really solid snaps, and plays with leverage, however he does come up to early on shorter DL (that will be a problem with fast rushers.) Has toughness, but also had some needless after-play contact (he swung on that dude half way through the video.) He plays 7A ball in South Florida, so there is really good competition there. I would be curious to know who are some of those guys he was going against in the highlights. His team looked meh, but he held his own on a lot of blocking assignments. They didn't do a lot of zone blocking, mostly man focused.

I've seen some tape on this guy. Very solid, he is mostly down this far on ppl's list due to grades, but some have said that he's cleared those issues up.

Do we need to worry about Hamsah and FSU? My brother in law is an FSU grad, and he has been chirping about him for the past few days. He told me that some of the FSU insiders think that he flips.

But make no mistake, the 4-star safety feels strongly about the coaches he’s committed to play for in college. Nasirildeen lit up on Monday when asked about South Carolina defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson. “The honest, active — that’s just the only way I can describe him: honest and active,” Nasirildeen said. “He’s always moving around, talking, but he isn’t going to lie to you. He’s just going to tell you what’s up.” Muschamp, he added, is just as honest, though Nasirildeen laughed while admitting that the head coach’s level of activity doesn’t match his defensive coordinator. Nasirildeen was reassured by his decision to commit to the two coaches when South Carolina clinched a bowl bid, after opening the season with a 2-4 record. “They got a lot better, fast, so that was a good sign … you’re showing that you’ve got a good plan for what you’ve got to do,” Nasirildeen said. The Gamecocks coaches will host Nasirildeen for an official visit in January. A return to Tallahassee, Fla., doesn’t appear to be in the cards. Plus, Nasirildeen is recruiting for South Carolina.
