After the injury in December, it wasn't clear when or really even if he would be able to play football again. He dropped a lot of weight initially, but he's back up to being near his ideal playing weight and he's been putting in the extra work with Dillman and Lewis to get on track to contribute this season.

I work on campus and saw him the other day. He looked to be in good shape, so I thought that was encouraging to see. Hope he gets it together and is a force this year.

Ideally he should be playing with a chip on his shoulder. Everyone has really sold him short since he stepped on campus. If it were me I'd feel like I have something to prove.

He didn't himself any favors in the public eye by tweeting he should have listened to his parents and looked around more.

Im sure we all are, but he has a lot of bridges to rebuild after his tweets last year. I really hope he does well and does indeed rebuild them, he is showing he is buying into the system. I want him to make a rebound in the biggest possible way and reach the true potential we all knew he had when he committed as a 5* his jr year. He would have stayed up that high if he didnt get hurt and miss most if not all of his SR year of High School. The kid has the talent we all know that, but can he screw his head back down and play ball like we know he can is the question.

He was just recently cleared for weight training and conditioning. Good timing too, with 3 full months throughout the summer to regain much of his strength and size. His ACL injury should be well behind him now with 2 full years to recover. His gunshot injuries sounded more soft tissue injuries rather than joint/tendon/ligament injuries, so he should recover all of his reflexes.

Hopefully he's able to return and at least provide productive depth at DE because right now we're a bit thin at the position past Qua Lewis...

I wonder if he was in a gang or something and they had to "jump him out"or in this case shoot him out. Just a notion I got. no evidence or really even Merritt to support it.
