From the moment Greenville (S.C.) class of 2024 four-star ATH Mazeo Bennett decommitted from Tennessee in December, it seemed like only a matter of time before he joined the Gamecocks class.
That day is today as the high-priority South Carolina football target announced his pledge to the Gamecocks.
The commitment is the result of the long-time pursuit of South Carolina wide receivers coach Justin Stepp who offered Bennett in October of 2021 making South Carolina the first Power 5 school to offer the big-play receiver.
2024 is shaping up with the potential to be SC's best class in history.

NIL is killing our recruiting. I totally understand Beamer not into the bidding wars but losing out on player after player is the result.

Not sure where this is coming from. Didn’t we just sign our best class since Beamer was the recruiting coordinator under Spurrier?

yes while pulling in the top recruit.
This years class so far has a lot of highly rated 4 star plus guys. I think it is coming from missing on the last few recruits and having a dry july.

You must not be following this year's class. We literally just lost a 4* wr to VT who had already previously committed to Beamer all because of NIL. We are missing on player after player, here recently, and reasons given are due to NIL. Beamer doesn't believe in bidding wars and I can appreciate that but also understand we will miss out on numerous players because of that stance.

Last I heard the 24 class was on pace to be better than 23.
If you’re bent out of shape over one player committing somewhere else then you shouldn’t follow recruiting.

"Was" is the key word. It's now fallen behind 23. And it's not just one player. It's been recruit after recruit here recently. Just look at the players that were coming to our BBQ that in the last couple of weeks have elected to go somewhere else including players we have led for for months.

We just lost DT/OT Liam Andrews to Penn State. While our OL recruiting has been outstanding our DL has been just the opposite. We will need to hit the portal for DT I'm afraid.

fair. ill let it play out though. Beamer has done a good job so far overall. The class started hot, hopefully he can finish hot.
