Not sure how a baseball stadium would help him.

We still lead. Hes down to us, FSU, and OU right now.

Hes coming to several of our games this year so hopefully we can give him something to get excited about.

We've fallen to 9th in the SEC in the recruiting class rankings. Of course this isn't going to cut it but if we get Burch and Grimes that will move us up.

Where do you see us finishing with this class ranking and what players do you see us finishing with?

A very fair prediction would be 16th-20th overall, 7th-8th in the SEC.

Highest I could see us getting is 14th overall. Did some calculations and that would include Burch and Grimes

The Pool Board is 4x4 this year after being only 3x3 last year and them missing the bottom cut which was 16. That's the first time that's happened in the 15 years we've been doing it.

By comparison Bama, UGA and Clemson are all 3x3 and 1-9 and have been for a few years with boxes strictly 1-9.

We were 8-16 last year and low man won by default at $200.00 a square. We had two boards filled out statewide as far as I know whereas UGA and Bama both had over ten. (Heard Clemson has two as well this year but they have $250 boxes.)

So we're at 4x4 this year and we get the new boards next Wednesday and word is we'll be 10-25 so .... given all of that the bookie must expect us to finish at the median somewhere around 18.

We did have the state bookie tell us over the summer that SC is very difficult to predict because our player rankings fluctuate more than any other in the SEC and it usually means a drop in ratings when they commit, rather than maintaining or rising.

We've missed on some players the last three years that killed the metric for us too. When the guy comes in he is always shaking his head at how difficult it is, of all the pool playing fanbases, to predict SC's 15 February rankings each year in August. Still, prior to these last couple of years they've been in the +/- 3 margin most of the time.

Clemson is already given the defacto #1 class this year.

random - Feaster related --- looking through the records in the 2019 media guide ...

USC has had a RB & WR both eclipse the 100-yard mark in the same game just 17 times since 1992 in SEC play. it happened twice in 2018.

2018 / at Ole Miss - Denson (102), Williams (105) & Edwards (109)
2018 / at Vanderbilt - Dowdle (112) & Shi Smith (119)

the 2018 Ole Miss game is only the second time Carolina has had 3 skill players exceed the 100-yard mark all in the same game in SEC play. the other was in 2001 vs Vanderbilt - Pinnock (106), Watson (105) & Brian Scott (143).

with Feaster joining USC this season - he's the first true threat of a 1000 yard RB since MD28 ('12-'14). Edwards has increased his rec yards every year here (590/793/846) and could be the next USC 1000-yd WR in a season since Pharoh in 2014. Edwards had three 100-yd rec games in 2018 - Georgia, at Ole Miss, Tennessee.

I was in the 'we sure we wanna do this' crowd when it was rumored TF would be transferring to USC from the Upstate - that's changed. the addition of Feaster gives Carolina/Bentley something our offense hasn't had since Thompson/MDavis/Cooper in 2014.

2014 Gamecocks finished 3rd in the SEC in total offense (league games) at 453 yds/gm - ahead of Alabama & Georgia. Carolina averaged 6.0 yards/play as well as 4th in the SEC in scoring.

So word is from the scrimmage that we looked really good and that mUSChamp was sandbagging the press conference. I mean it wasn’t like he was down or disappointed, it was more like he just wasn’t going to say much to give anything away.

Feaster is evidently a man among boys in terms of sheer talent in our backfield. He’s giving the offense an entirely new mindset that if they do their jobs and block for this guy he’ll get the tough yards and maybe even break off some big gains from time to time. He’s evidently a real weapon.

Heard there were some real battles in the trenches yesterday with things getting heated a couple of times .... a good sign IMHO. Anytime you have that kind of competition going, where both sides are not only striving to get better but forcing the other side, and those behind them, to get better at the same time .... that’s a big positive.

Dakereon wants to be called Dakereon, not Dak.

Hilinski’s inexperience showed a couple of times yesterday.

WRs might be very good. A couple were missing yesterday so some of the younger guys showed-out battling against Horn and Izzie. Izzie stobbed someone from safety/nickel yesterday which he played some. They had to ease him up he was bringing so much physicality. The Legette kid is evidently a stud but he took a lick from Izzie yesterday that welcomed him to the big time .... he popped right up though and caught a nice pass immediately afterwards. Had his bell rung though.

Interesting move sliding Big Red over to TE. He’s going to burn someone this season when they get caught thinking he is just there in running packages.

They started putting in a little bit of their UNC game plan yesterday. We’re going straight at them planning on just pounding them in the trenches. Mons Denson May start that game at TB. It appears that’s what they have planned and for a reason. Denson has been physical in camp, as has Harris. But we’re going to see a lot of Feaster. It doesn’t sound like any of this bodes well for Rico.

They worked a lot on Special Teams yesterday, kicking forty yarders and in ... 45 is going to be about the absolute limit. We may see Charlton do a little soccer style kicking in those situations - they worked on that some yesterday and he did pretty good. It’s not a natural thing for him.

KOs we are solid but punt returns .... if we can find a return man. No idea why it is taking so long to decide but that’s supposed to be settled this week. KR it’s looking like AJ.

LBs played solidly yesterday and we’ve got some depth there this year. Damani Staley has improved by leaps and bounds and will be a major contributor alongside about five others who they feel are all capable. TJ, Thompson, Louis, Greene and Jones. Louis shows flashes of stardom at times but is still learning to read the game. But he is a beast against the run in short yardage situations so it looks like they are using him mostly down around the goal line inside the ten. He’s got coverage issues and assignment issues but they say the light is coming on for him slowly but surely. Greene has supposedly come a long ways since last season and may be the most talented and gifted LB in the corp if he continues to improve his skills and continues to get better at squaring up against ballcarriers .... but he still misses one every now and then. He’s just so good at coverage. He’s got elite LB speed. So the plan is to switch him and Louis out often based upon situations and hope we don’t get caught with our pants down. Greene may be penciled in as a starter vs UNC already.

Everyone has already heard, I’m sure, that we can expect to see a lot of fades this year, and not just in the red zone. They’ll run it from 35 yards out and let Edwards and OrTre go up and get it. But I think the plan is to use it as bait because, evidently, Shi and/or Leggett are the check option across the middle in those situations so, from what I heard, it’s pretty hard to defend even for our secondary when they know what’s developing. We’ll also have a back releasing into the flats as the fourth checkdown and evidently Feaster is just a beast at taking those and turning upfield. It sounded to me like some of the old SPURrier drawn up plays of just outnumbering the coverage and outmanning the cover guys in one on one matchups. I am anxious to see it employed against UNC and I hope it is successful enough to give DCs fits when they see it on film. Even Bama has DB and LB issues this year so who knows .... if this becomes our go-to set inside the 35 and everyone is on the same page timing-wise, who knows. Wuerful and SPURrier were the masters at that. It’s all about communication and timing and everyone doing exactly what they’re supposed to do.

Oh, Jamyest Williams. What a dilemma. Kid has a big heart and tons of talent but is lacking in size obviously. They want him on the field but they know he’s going to get picked-on some with big WRs and they worry about his shoulder a little apparently. Kid is such a gamer though. He’s fearless and competitive but he does have his limitations and they showed a little bit yesterday. Oh well, fingers crossed for him. It’s just a matter of finding the right place for him ..... seems like it might be at Safety and who knows where in our dime package. Special Teams too hopefully although, he just doesn’t seem to want to be the PR guy. Who knows.

Awesome intel sir! Uncheat is starting true freshman, Sam Howell, at qb. We need to bring the heat and have our cb up in the wr face.

Are you guys expecting anything from Jamyest Williams and Josh Vann this season? I just remember that I wanted both of them at UGA but I hadn't heard much about either. TIA.

I think Vann has a big year. We have some good WR’s, but he should play a lot to fill the void left by Deebo. I’d expect him to catch 35-40 balls.

Yep and rooster said, Jam has a huge heart for the game, just not the physical attributes to match. He definitely has a role, but his size is his biggest limiting factor. Heck who knows, the kid may end up being one of the best dbs, but he does have to learn to play bigger than he is.

When Joyner was in high school at Ft. Dorchester, they played a game @ Dutch Fork in Irmo. The Dutch Fork PA announcer kept butchering the pronunciation of his name. The Ft. Dorchester side of the stadium was getting visibly annoyed and figured it was being done on purpose.

I talked to someone who was at the scrimmage (former player) and he said that the team looked really average. Bentley is still inconsistent. He said no one really stood out other than Izzie and Horn.
