SOS I agree with you on alot but, I will tip my cap to boom, he scrapped a passive 3-3-5 in favor of an aggressive 4-3. It's to be seen if it stays, but he said that will likely be out base d going forward cause it buts our best players on the field together....how it took this long to see is a mystery. However what's done is done we can't change the past, let's hope he lets BMac open it up with this agressive 4-3 d look, cause we all have seen what can be done if he allows BMac/werner to call plays

The best part of that is he's leading the troops from the front.

That's a best case scenario for us.

Side note:

D.J. Wonnum, Named SEC Defensive player of the week.

quote:

Wonnum, a senior from Stone Mountain, Ga., was in the Kentucky backfield all night, as he was credited with five tackles, all solos, including a career-high 3.0 sacks, accounting for 25 lost yards, with a forced fumble and a quarterback hurry in the Gamecocks' convincing 24-7 win over the Wildcats.
Wonnum led a Carolina defense that allowed just 212 total yards, the fewest for the Gamecocks since 2012.

Maybe 2019 is the year we break the streaks...KY is done, now to get UGA and Tater Tech.

PS...I'm not holding my breath.

Yeah, I don't know about UGA and Clemson. I think we can beat Texas A&M though. I think we have the talent to compete with most teams on our schedule, but as we saw with the Missouri game, you never know which team will show up. Our play calling is always a wildcard from game to game.

I also love a good noon game

Get some brunch, and parlay that into some noon football during the fall

I think we can beat everyone left on our schedule with the exception of UGA. Being on the road will be rough. The noon start will help, a little. I see it being an Alabama type game. We hang for a little while, but get out depthed by the end.

Everyone else, I think we've got a punchers chance. This includes Clemson, Florida and TA&M.

I'm not stating that the defense wasn't solid I'm stating that we achieved this versus a horrible team with a 4th string QB. It's like me fighting people my size and losing but the next fight is against a midget and I dominate. How good am I really?
Time will tell. I would love to be wrong and all of you laugh at me but I'm not changing my stance on Muschamp and the team based off a win against a inferior team.
It's like some posters on here have cleared their memories of our unc and Missouri games and actually posting that we could win the rest of our games, except maybe Georgia, which Muschamp past will tell you thats a pipe dream . We have , I think, 4 more games against ranked teams so exactly how many ranked teams has Muschamp beaten as our coach ?

Their "4th string QB" was 23-35 for 267 YDS and 2 TD vs 3 INT's vs Florida with a QBR of 85.4.

Vs us he was 11-32 for 90 yards with 0 TD's and 1 int. His QBR was 8.2.

Aslo, I missed this earlier.

Joseph Charlton, SEC special teams player of the week.

Charlton, a senior from Columbia, continues to have an impressive season. He was called on nine times in the Gamecocks' 24-7 win over Kentucky and responded with a 51.2-yard average, with five of the nine putting Kentucky inside their 20.

Included was a season-long punt of 65 yards and four were over 50 yards. Due in large part to Charlton, Kentucky's average field position was its own 23-yard line.
He is second in the SEC and in the country with a 49.8-yard average and is Carolina's career punting leader at 45.2 yards per punt.

You don't think Florida is overrated? Really?

So Lonnie using your anology Missouri's defense is better than Alabama when comparing Hilinski stats from both games.

My comment is really more about UF. Yes, I think they are very overrated and I think we beat them in Columbia. I just hope they don't drop out of the Top 25 before we play them. But we'll know more after this weekend.

And you could easily make the argument that MIzzou's D is better than Alabama's based on their performances this year. They are #3 in total defense (bogus stat) and #12 in Scoring Defense (a stat that counts). Bama is #38 and #13 respectively.

While none of us should be happy with the season so far, things may not be as bad as we perceive them to be.

I really don’t think great Ds exist anymore in this era of football

When you put a great offense on the field
A great D is going to fall apart

I don’t think you’ll see many 6-3 Bama LSU games
And if you do, it’s because of shite offense not great defense

Bama has talent, but in these new spreads a good offense is gonna put points on them

Think LSU Bama this year will be like Texas-LSU

Look at the teams Missouri has played when taking into context their defensive rankings.

Muschamp can get me back in his camp if he shuts down, and beats, Georgia.
