It's the max we can have this year. With the early outs and transfers, we were able to bring in 6 EE's. Any SEC school can sign up to 25 initial counters every February. What school like tenn do that bring in 35+ is they process a bunch of people the previous school year and allow themselves to sign more EE's.

247 did something interesting in that they ranked the schools 'all time' for producing D1 talent by star ratings.
https://247sports.com/Sport/Football/AllTimeHighSchoolTeamTalentComposite
Here's what I saw for the Carolinas (national rankings. I only looked at the top 500.)
SC Top 5
#84 Bynres
#263 Bamberg Ehrhardt
#334 Greenwood
#449 Malboro County (Syvelle Newton.)
$478 South Pointe
NC Top 10
#123 Mallard Creek
#138 Butler
#182 Hillside
#186 Independence (I would've though they would be higher.)
#276 Crest (this is a program on the rise.)
#308 Southern
#392 Dudley
#397 Scotland County
#442 Charlotte Christian
#447 Jack Britt
Interesting how the larger schools in the state aren't always the best at producing the most/best talent, especially in NC's case.

I figured Rock Hill, Northwestern, and Gaffney may have cracked the list too.

I was gonna say 32 ... but I figured an extra NQ placement.

Any updates from the weekend so far? Googer tweeted that every player he has hosted has committed. Any idea snag that was about?

Guys over on 247 saying it was just a general statement as far as they know. Only thing I've really heard is that Dawkins & Whitfield will be here next weekend instead of this week.

This shocks the frick outta me. They're a 1-A school now.
We (grad of Barnwell) used to play them back in the mid-late 80s when Mac Weir was our coach and BHS along with Silver Bluff ran the state in 2-A ball. B-E was 2-A back then and was meh.
Never a fan of them..and it's where Niki Haley is from so that kinda tells you what kinda shite hole the place is.

Feedback from over the weekend:
3* TE and BYU commitment Hank Tuipulotu
3* DB and Auburn commitment Marlon Character
4* WR and Miami Commitment Sam Bruce
3* LB TJ Brunson
3* WR and Arkansas Commit Kiel Pollard
3* DE Tyreic Martin
3* TE and BYU commitment Hank Tuipulotu
quote:
“The coaching staff really has this program heading in the right direction,” the 6-foot-2, 225-pound Tuipulotu said. “Coach (Will) Muschamp has done a great job of choosing all the right coaches. They are building new facilities, which is awesome. It’s impressive from an academic standpoint.”
“I was pretty set with BYU, and their coaching change kind of threw for me for a loop,” he said. “South Carolina has been in my ear a lot, and they are a really good option close to home, so my family can come see me play.”
“I had never been here before, and I hadn’t planned on it because they hadn’t shown any interest before the coaching change. It’s an awesome campus, awesome facilities and an awesome place to be.”
“Coach Bentley has been in my ear a lot. He has stressed how close South Carolina is compared to having to fly four hours to get to BYU. He told me I would be a 'B-back' which is a flex tight end and try to create mismatches against slower linebackers or smaller cornerbacks.”
“I am going on my BYU visit this weekend, and then I will make a final decision once I compare everything.”
“I would sign, but I would technically be in the class of 2018. I would go on my mission and then come back two years later.”
3* DB and Auburn commitment Marlon Character
quote:
“Obviously, the coaching staff was very new,” the 6-foot-1, 170-pound Character said. “They finished up the construction of the indoor facility and everything looked nice. I never really took a full tour of everything before, and I feel like I covered everything on this visit.”
“The campus, the dorms were still being built over the summer. They look real nice. I get a better look at the city, too, and it’s really nice.”
“The message from them was to make the best decision for myself and to keep in mind that there will be stability here with the coaching staff just getting here. They didn’t pressure me or anything.”
“They were talking about free safety, cornerback, strong safety. They like my versatility.”
“I am still committed to Auburn, and I want to give a fair chance to the other schools. I am visiting Virginia Tech next weekend and Auburn the weekend after that. I want to take those visits and then weigh all the pros and cons. I think I will know before signing day. Probably right after my Auburn visit.”
4* WR and Miami Commitment Sam Bruce
quote:
“The visit went exceptionally well,” the 5-foot-8, 180-pound Bruce said. “Even better than I thought it would. I had a great time. A great time.”
“South Carolina is definitely in my top three along with Miami and Ohio State.”
“He told me to pick somewhere for me. My relationship with him will be big.”
“Final decision on signing day.”
3* LB TJ Brunson

3* WR and Arkansas Commit Kiel Pollard
quote:
I have been told that Kiel Pollard is having a great time on his official visit. He will also stay in Columbia until Monday. We won't have a full wrap-up with him until that point.
3* DE Tyreic Martin
quote:
“They’re, like, my second right now,” Martin said of South Carolina. “I still have Missouri at the top right now. I have to go to Miami to see.”
“Missouri and South Carolina are kind of like a toss-up,” Martin said. “I like Missouri because I like the coaching staff still, even the new ones. The D-line coach, we stay in touch a lot.”
“Right after I finish my last visit is when I’ll make my choice.”
“The coaching staff,” Martin said, when asked what he liked the most about the trip. “They’re really family oriented. I like the strength coordinator a lot. He’s really intense and I think he’d be very good for me if I come to South Carolina.”
“Coach Muschamp is one of the best in the game,” Martin said. “We talked a lot this weekend. He keeps it real with me and doesn’t try to sell me on anything. He wants what’s best for the players and the recruits.”

Just provided the ones who aren't Carolina Commits that we are targeting, the players already committed to USC all saying they had a great visit and that we're their #1, etc.

Of all the targets we've had for this class, I think this is the kid I want the most. He is a playmaker and I believe would be the X factor on our offense.

But I thought back in the 80s Willie Varner at Woodruff, Cecil Woolbright at Chaplin, Lon Armstrong at Mid-Carolina, and then what's his name at Batesburg-Leesville ran AA football in this state? Barnwell too ... no doubt.

I'm greedy at this point ... I want'em all. I want everyone we offer to commit and sign. Just let nature take its course and karma decide ... but I agree, the higher the stars the more they shine during the recruiting process.
We've got a real good shot of finishing strong though.
This weekend was nothing really. The next two weekends, they are going to make or break our class. They'll be the difference between a Top 35 class or a Top 25 class.

Maybe if you look at records for the entire decade of the 80s..definitely possible. We went undefeated in 88 and 89, won lowerstate and beat Central Pageland back to back yrs both of those yrs for the 2A title. Silver Bluff was the lowerstate runner up both yrs and I believe Woodruff may have been upstate runner up both of those yrs but I don't recall.
Weir was inducted into the SC high school hall of fame not long after he retired with the winningest record in 2A ball during '85-'89. Silver Bluff's coach, Al Lown, was also inducted but that guy just retired after this last season..unbelievable that he coached so many yrs longer than Mac Weir.
Lown kept Silver Bluff relevant in 2A all of these years. After Weir left Barnwell, the football program fell to shite..something I never thought in a million yrs would happen. I absolutely loved BHS and the Warhorses.
The teams I cheered for at Barnwell put a couple of players in the Gamecock program. QB Bru Pender never really saw any substantial playing time while there, but kicker Marc Saylor did. We had a kicker named Joseph Cely who went to the Citadel..he had a leg and was accurate as hell. Then there was Shelly Hammonds(RB) who played at Penn State and went on to play for the Vikings.
Didn't mean to ramble on and on. Damn those were some fun times and great memories, though. What I wouldn't give to go back to those high school and college days just for a little bit.

Pretty much. We'll need to get to about 217 points on the 247 Composite to end up with a Top 25 class. Right now we are #29 and 202 points.
IF we get any recruit like Sam Bruce or Nate Craig Myers, then it will be real easy to get a Top 25 class from there. Otherwise, we're going to have to hold on to our top guys and pick up some high 3*s.
