Most of us were prepared for this, which is sad enough. But it's not like every team that was inside the bubble was that much better than USC. Vandy isn't great, nor is Carolina, but they still shouldn't be there over USC.

The committee is sending a message. Improve OOC if you want to be a non-traditional school from the SEC.

Also, I hope this failure doesn't discourage Martin in contract talks. You don't think this would cause him to look around, do you?

Felt we deserved a shot, but the pollsters have shown no love all year long. So it is what it is. It was within our grasp but slipped away. Still took steps forward but tripped just a bit and the step was smaller than anticipated.

Committee is completel bullshite.

Wichita St had 23 wins, 1 win against a top 50 RPI team, and was 4-7 over top 100 teams. SC was 8-4 against top 100 teams, and played in a tougher conference, but we didn't get in. complete bullshite. SC performed better than Wichita St, but was left out.

We had 3 more wins than Tulsa, we beat Tulsa and we beat twice as many teams than they did who were in the Top 100. Yet Tulsa is in.....complete bullshite.

I agree that USC has a better objective resume than Tulsa or Wichita State, and likely Vandy, too.

But we honestly should know by now that college athletics are a caste system, and the University of South Carolina is simply not on the inside. We have gotten screwed over in football bowl selections, and certainly NCAA Tournament selections. This is just how it is.

I'm not arguing that it should be this way. I'm just saying that, especially as long as we have weak leadership in the athletic department, this isn't going to change.

I keep harping on Tulsa. That is the one team that is in that pissed me off more than any others. Absolutely cannot believe it.

Ultimately it comes down to money. The teams that got picked over us was simply opening the NCAA up to TV money in those respective markets. Syracuse, Vandy, Maybe not so much Tulsa, but Wichita ST.

We didn't have the Blue Blood resume, or the potential cinderella storyline, so we got shafted.

I don't know if that's the reason, b/c nobody from SC made it and we have 4M people.

That's the best game Chatkevicious has ever played.

If he had played with that level of intensity and confidence throughout the SEC slate, this could have been a very special year.

lol, damn, I really am getting older ... man, I remember that season like it was yesterday. Trust me, it felt far more special, was much tougher to achieve, than was this year's ride. But still, I get it.

We lost an early, very controversial game, to the Ernie and Bernie show from Tennessee ... by one point. Lost a crazy game to a very very good Davidson team midseason while missing a couple of key players to injury. Lost the final game of the season to NC State in an ACC set-up bullshite double-overtime game in the tourney after having had just slaughtered them at home to win the regular season. It was that game that probably led to us getting out of the ACC more than anything ... we got jobbed in that ACC Championship game after going undefeated in ACC play the entire season.

Was not invited to the Dance because the ACC only allowed the tourney champion to go back then.

We may have been the best team in the country that year. At one time we were ranked #1 ahead of UCLA.

Yeah but problem is there's no team in the SEC that's as height-depleted as High Point is. Even UT, UGA, and Bama tower over High Point. There were a number of OOC teams we played that had the kinds of depth (or lack of it) in the post that HP had tonight, and Chat was the team's leading or 2nd-leading scorer after the OOC schedule was done, wasn't he?

But you're right about intensity however. I guess Chat shrivels a little when opponents take the floor that can look him square in the eyes. Yes if he played with that kind of effort, and even if he scores only half of what he did tonight, a number of those loss games might have turned out differently.

But we've had more games regarding him and "if onlys" over the past 4 seasons than I'll ever be able to keep track of.....

Yup. Chat just never played with that intensity and focus on conference. He was timid, even when teams weren't big (UTK).

Looks like it's going to be Georgia Tech on Monday, GT up big in the second half right now. 56-39 with 13:49 left.

ETA: Tech wins 81-62.

That'll be fun ... wonder who Bobby Cremins is going to be rooting for?

I would imagine he'll attend this one.
