HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! Maryland's new OL Coach Dave DeGuglielmo (has been there maybe 2 weeks) just quit.
USC back in this?
Maryland fans are having a great sense of humor about this from the posts on 247 (post below from their board):
Should help us with Prince, right?
What was your favorite part of the DeGuglielmo era?
But he really wanted the (a) job!
Is going through two position coaches in a month before a 5* recruit at that position chooses a school bad? Asking for a friend.
All I can do is laugh. frick Maryland sports.
I was told that when he found out about the "no doo rag" policy, he knew it just wasn't going to work.
The new hire must have a mustache!!!! Only then will we know his quality.
frick him anyway. He was with the Jets, so we don't want that stink of failure to overcome our stench of disappointment.
Agreed, line did not improve at all in his tenure.

That has to help us with Prince.

Kid needs to wake up and smell the garnet-colored roses. I understand hometown draw can be a big deal, but his home school is a dumpster fire. Needs to make a good choice for his future and come play ball in the SEC.

AND we just got Caldwell LINK

I couldn't agree more. Neither of the schools can straight faced look Prince in the eye and say "you'll start next year here man," without actually bold faced lying to him.
HOWEVER, our 2 OT's are GONE after this season, and if Prince came here I would be SHOCKED if he wasn't starting in '15. We just don't have a ton of depth at OT and we damn sure only have maybe 1 or 2 guys near his potential level.
UF brought in 5 OT's this year, and 1 of them is already a 5 Star. They also have some badass JUCO OT's. Esdall has less than a 50% chance of being the HC at Maryland after the '14 season, they are going to lose all but 4-5 games in the Big1G East.
This is a lot like the Kelcy Griffen situation last year, where USC just makes so much sense for this guy, compared to his other options, I hope divine intervention takes hold and someone helps steer this guy in the right direction. Griffen is on the 2 Deep now, and could start this year, but is locked to start next year, if not this coming year. If he went to UGA, he would've RS this year and still wouldn't be the NT this coming year, and probably not even on the NT 2 Deep.

All logic points to USC, but he is just a kid after all. We just gotta sit back and wait.

Caldwell is official now

I wonder if the latest Poona idiocy made the coaches just say, "frick it, we're done with him", call up Darrius, and tell him that he's good to go with his scholarship?

Safe bet.

Yes.
I'm just surprised we ever got involved with Poona again.

Deke's visit to go see Caldwell was actually setup late last week, I think before Poona even announced he was thinking of coming here.

USC leads for Scott again supposedly

USCBaseball is the guy from cockytalk you're referencing. He knows his stuff, but he's just like ETG over there and they just follow recruiting and have some connections. I still wouldn't get excited until after some info comes out following Spurrier's visit.

Update from last night:
Spurrier, Sands and Adams met with Scott and his family. Scott wanted to know about Spurrier's personal plans for how long he'll be coaching, what the OL Depth Chart looked like, what the RB Depth Chart looked like and the visit was described as going as well as it could have.
No word on whether Spurrier did the Cha Cha or broke out the secret weapon of the Wobble.
Weird how Scott wanted to talk about when Spurrier was going to retire...odd that it came up right after Butch Jones visit. Spurrier has been at USC through 4 Vol HC's tenures (Fulmer, Lame Kitten, Dooley and now Butch.)

Spurrier, Mangus and Sands went to go see Dexter Wideman this morning. Now that the whole Poona drama is in the rearview window, I think Wideman is a priority for this class. I feel like if he was really going to flip, he would've done it by now, but I'm holding out hope to be wrong. If he qualifies and comes to USC he'll add another huge piece of depth to our DL. He's like an Ingram who could play SDE or DT and he's so explosive.

Sportstalk/Kornblut just tweeted that Scott will choose Tennessee over USC on Monday.

I'm waiting for this to be a "GOTCHA" moment. PK and Kipp Adams ruined DJ Smith's announcement by putting out video and their articles before he made it on TV and like he wanted. Kipp and PK are now calling Scott to Tenn, so I think our hope right now would be that Scott is trying to punk them.

Highly doubtful that Scott cares a/b Smith enough to exact revenge on his behalf against a small time reporter he doesn't know.
The question is who takes Scott's slot?
