Yeah with 5 games left we lead the SEC by 1.5 games, so we have a real shot to take home the conference title. However as you mentioned we still have to play LSU and UK, top 20 teams, and a top 10 Vols club.

Yep IMO the final 5 games will without a doubt be the toughest part of our schedule: not only do we play away versus possibly the toughest 3 of those (LSU, UK, and UT - UK however has been faltering of late and may be in a bit of a disarray), but the 2 opponents we host will be resurging UF and UGA, who both are making late runs for NCAAT at-large bids.
No more teams looking ahead to next year on our schedule. I hope the girls are as prepared as they can be. I do like how Roy, and Gaines have stepped up their contributions off the bench, and Coates now plays like a stud with a chip on her shoulder. Both Welch and Mitchell are great all-around athletes and leaders on the floor for the team. Sessions and Dozier have shown some glimpses: it would be nice if they can take their games to a higher level...
We're still fouling too much for my tastes, but at this point in the season I don't think there'll be much more improvement in that area. Just keep playing great defense and high-percentage offense. And keep lobbing those balls to Elem and Alaina inside...

Moved up to #5 this week. #3 Duke lost today so if we can take care of business this week we should at least get to top 4, maybe even higher.

Team for the first time really found a way to close out a game. Blew a lead but battled back and won. Good day to be a Gamecock with the 2 baseball wins & todays BB win. I also heard that this is the first time in 3 yrs that we've won 2 sec games in a row.

Yeah I truly feel we should be a middle of the pack SEC team, nothing to write home about, but certainly better than we've been since Horn's 1st season. Once this core group gains more experience + Martin's recruits keeps coming in we'll be a fine team in no time.

How about Sindarius Thornwell today though? Dude's a freaking stud, I was able to watch the last 5 minutes while I was at the baseball game today. Easily the best player in the program since Devan Downey. Can't wait to see how his career progresses here in a Carolina uniform.

@ #19 LSU
@ #18 UK
vs Florida - who has pulled several upsets this year
vs Georgia - not raked but Andy can not be considered an easy win
@ #8 UT
That is a damn brutal way to finish the season. Could go 0-5, could go 5-0, or could finish somewhere in between.

Sin honored with SEC Freshman of the Week.
South Carolina’s Sindarius Thornwell, a 6-foot-5, 206-pound freshman guard from Lancaster, S.C., was named SEC Freshman of the Week after averaging 20.5 points, five rebounds and five assists in wins over Vanderbilt and Alabama. Thornwell registered his sixth 20-point game of the season - fifth in conference play - against the Crimson Tide. He either scored or assisted on 15 of Carolina’s final 17 points against Alabama, including hitting two free throws with five seconds remaining to give the Gamecocks a four-point lead.

Women Gamecocks won today and will claim at least a share of the SEC title. (I guess A&M lost today?) And the Gamecocks can win it outright on Thursday.

I was looking at the standings on ESPN (due to some rando comment about UCONN's superior numbers...) and noticed that 12 of the 14 SEC women's teams have winning records. That's insane. Even the ACC only has 10 of their 15. UCONN's AAC has only 50% (5 of 10) with a winning record.
What this team is doing this year, they are doing in the strongest conference...

The only way this weekend gets better is if we sweep Clem5on tomorrow.
