I watched it recently and really enjoyed it.
Good cast, plot and the action scenes were well done.
The Whitespikes are scary.

All the more so because they represent an efficient way for an alien race to conquer and eliminate the inhabitants of another world. I haven’t seen this idea in another scifi movie. You take your planet’s meanest, baddest and toughest species and drop them on an unsuspecting world. They empty the planet of other major species and then you just spray them with a toxin or virus to kill them all. Voila! You’ve got a new home.

I thought it was a good watch. My only complaint was give these poor humans some decent guns to shoot those aliens. They were getting slaughtered because they were were shooting bb guns at the aliens

We won't tell you what you're fighting, what their capabilities are, or their weaknesses until you encounter one and are nearly dead, but here, take these weapons with you.

It takes about 3,500 rounds to kill them with these, but luckily you have unlimited ammo for some reason.

But the neck...they pretty much explode if you hit them with an axe.

It wasn't bad.
Pretty clear they used the idea from prometheus of using some sort of creature (in prometheus' case manufactured creature) to kill life on a planet.

Wrecked ship taken from the thing (and interestingly wrecked with other alien cargo on board taken from removed portions of the most recent remake)

Anyway, it's an amalgamation of other movies at times but it was pretty good. Had a happy ending which seems rare for movies now a days.

There’s a reason Stephen Hawking said to leave them alone.

Who says we couldn't beat them?

That said if there is intelligent life out there sending crap out into space about our species is asking for trouble
