Pelini and the LSU administration are very close to finalizing a deal. Lawyers are looking over the documents and advising LSU officials how to pay for Pelini's 4 mil buyout. Pelini is asking for a lump sum.

The deal has already been made.

The two parties agreed to lump pay settlement rather then spreading the money out through the remainder of the contract which ran to March 31, 2023.
