Through the 2001 season, Tennessee was a Borderline Blue Blood. They were very much a championship caliber team that year.
From 1926-2001 (75 years), Tennessee had the highest winning percentage in college football. Why 1926? That was Neyland's first year at Tennessee's head coach. So...sure...that sounds pretty "borderline" to me.

Your points are valid..
However you are laying out Football Powers, which can fluctuate... But that does not make them blue bloods. It’s just a different connotation.
I guess the best way to describe a blue blood is; has your school ever been referred to as being Back..
As in “Bama is back!” “Texas is back”, “USC is Back”.
No one as ever said LSU is back or Clemson is back.
