Just heard he has passed.

I remember my first encounter at the McDonalds on Harrodsburg Road (I think they tore it down recently) when he was just a kid. I have known lots of players but even then he was just special not only in his unique abilities but in the way he was so human.

I was much older but just knowing a guy my size could play something besides lineman was a real inspiration and I feel sure he allowed kids younger than himself to dream a dream beyond what a coach said a player could do. I was even more impressed after his playing days were done he was being honored but still gave credit to a relative of mine who was much less known on the professional level but had a journeymans career.

Taken far too soon, he will be missed.

Been on the road all day. Stopped for food and just saw the sad news. RIP

I really enjoyed watching him frustrate DCs and DL/LB alike when you weren't playing us.

Pouring one out tonight for our hefty homey.

Washington Post obit

Belle, can you reach out to Larry Leo and have him take down the River Monster pic and replace it with a good pic of him at UK?

TIA

I’m too young to have seen him play, but when I heard about a 300 pound quarterback I read his entire Wikipedia page.
