I know they usually get released sometime around now, but I couldn’t remember if that would be more around next week. Does anyone know if they’ve been released yet? I always enjoy reading/annotating them every year.

For some reason May 22 stands out as the day they all come out (except Steele)

Yeah I remember in the past the ones that have all FBS teams aren’t released until later in the month but I thought I remember buying the SEC preview one early in May one year.

They are a waste of time these days.

Back in the 60s you always knew when football season was here by when Street & Smith hit the newsstands.

These days they’re just killing trees with these magazines because nothing is current, most of it will change between now and summer practice.

The best publication ever put out was Larry Phipp’s Phearless Phorecast. Even the bookies in Vegas used to order that one and the media guys would line up for their copies at SEC media days. Phil Steele copies Larry’s format .... that’s quite the compliment.

I need to try to call Larry and see if he is still alive. Great guy.

They’re fun to buy and take to the pool and leave in the bathroom for some casual reading. It’s a good way to read up on some other teams. The articles are nice arguing points but that’s about it

Steele is still the best with regards to actual chewable information and it comes out later in the Summer for a reason

Fair but I buy a couple around July just because it makes me feel happy. Just opening one up for 30 seconds can get me through a 105 degree August day.
