Just for the fun of it, imagine if this was the way they picked the 4 playoff teams

You pick the top 6 teams, then you choose who is seeded #1 and #2. Then, each of the top two teams gets to choose the opponent of the other one. Who does Clemson pick for Alabama? Who does Bama pick for Clemson?

In that "thought experiment", I'm pretty sure Clemson chooses UGA to play Bama and Bama chooses Oklahoma (or maybe Ohio State) to play Clemson. Notre Dame wouldn't be in the mix.

If you're on the committee, maybe you should ask yourself this one if you're trying to pick the best 4 teams.

For some people, thinking is fun. Considering different perspectives is fun.

Being a dickhead can be fun, I suppose - I'll let you weigh in on that one.

Kind of depends on what you're thinking. I think you're an idiot, but that's more sad than fun.

That explains the Alabama fan base then.

Interesting concept and thought provoking idea, and whoever Bama & Clemson would pick would carry heavy weight, to who the best remaining teams are for 3rd & 4th playoffs spots.

Bama #1 seed = picks Clemson -vs- Georgia

Clemson #2 seed = picks Bama -vs- Oklahoma

Or they both make a gentlemen pack, and Bama picks Clemson -vs- Ohio St., while Clemson serves up Bama -vs- UCF.

In OP's scenario
Georgia & Oklahoma are 3rd & 4th playoffs teams

I think it would be opposite. Bama would want Clemson to play Georgia and Clemson would want Alabama to play Oklahoma/Ohio st

You're right. For some reason I was letting Clemson pick first. Assuming Bama is seeded #1, you are right, Bama would pick Georgia to face Clemson. Then Clemson would have decide between Ohio State, who is the more complete and dominant team on their best day but are ridiculously inconsistent, or Oklahoma, who has a sick offense and cream cheese defense.
