I actually like the format.
Taken from his reddit ask me anything segment:
"The current playoff format will be expanded. It’s just a matter of time. You should have the champion of all the Power 5 conferences in there. Then add two more who are the highest rated teams who didn't win their conference. And I’d leave the eighth spot for the highest rated mid-major team."

It will go to 8, then 16 and finally settle in at 24 with the top 8 teams getting byes in the first round. And there will be no automatic bids.

Les is right, but we would just argue over number 8 most years instead of arguing over 4. It would not eliminate controversy.

Double the amount of teams at least makes it seem more competitive.

Yes it would. Win your league. Or be the best team that doesn’t win. It’s not hard
Right now there is controversy because you don’t have to win your league and it’s all just opinion based. This would eliminate most of that

I don't think it would have affected any of the outcomes in the previous four playoffs. Meaning I think the same teams who won, would've won in an 8 game playoff. However, I am for it. I would love more meaningful football as fan.

I am not in for affirmative action for a group of 5 school to have access just because. Why take a spot away from a better and more worthy team?

The CFB playoff is the regular season! If you are a P5 team and win all your games, there’s a 99.9% you will continue your quest for the championship in the 4 team playoff. If you don’t win all your games, then you can’t complain about anything! That’s CFB!
Stop trying to change the best sport on earth!

I would dare say that at least 70% or more of all the Power 5 teams would still be undefeated playing the group of 5 schedule. It's not their fault, but college football can't be everything, to everyone, all of the time.
If Arkansas played UCF or USF's schedule they would certainly have a winning record and you think it's ok?

I like that system. It removes much of the controversy. Win your conference, and you earn a spot to play for the Natty. Plain and simple.

I used to hate the idea of a playoff but now bowls really have no meaning anymore. Id be a fan of an expanded playoff especially if the first round was at campus stadiums

Conference winners having an auto-bid could be awful. Like 3 loss Wisconsin a few years ago.

What it would have looked like in the last four years.
2017
1 Clemson (ACC Champion)
8 Central Florida (Highest Ranked G5 team)
4 Alabama (Best At-Large)
5 Ohio State (Big 10 Champion)
2 Oklahoma (Big 12 Champion)
7 USC (Pac 12 Champion)
3 Georgia (SEC Champion)
6 Wisconsin (#2 At-Large)
2016
1 Alabama (SEC Champion)
8 Western Michigan (Highest Ranked G5 Champion)
2 Clemson (ACC Champion)
7 Oklahoma (Big 12 Champion)
3 Ohio State (#1 At-Large)
6 Michigan (#2 At-Large)
4 Penn State (Big 10 Champion)
5 Washington (Pac 12 Champion)
2015
1 Clemson (ACC Champion)
8 Houston (Highest Ranked G5 Champion)
4 Oklahoma (Big 12 Champion)
5 Iowa (#1 At-Large)
2 Alabama (SEC Champion)
7 Ohio State (#2 At-Large)
3 Michigan State (Big 10 Champion)
6 Stanford (Pac 12 Champion)
2014
1 Alabama (SEC Champion)
8 Boise State (Highest Ranked G5 Champion)
4 Ohio State (Big 10 Champion)
5 Baylor (Co Big 12 Champion)
2 Oregon (Pac 12 Champion)
7 Mississippi State (#2 At-Large)
3 Florida State (ACC Champion)
6 TCU (Co Big 12 Champion)
Outside of the fact that the #1 team would have a huge advantage playing the G5 team, it seems like a very reasonable proposal to me. And it would definitely make college football a more exciting sport to watch during the late stages of the season. I'm all for it.

That sounds really gay. A 9 win team shouldn't be in the running for a natty
