Yep but plainly recovered by the fumbler
still wrong. no one "recovered" the fumble. the refs blew the whistle before anyone had possession. there's no way to tell what the refs would have seen in the scrum. there definitely were a couple of defenders there who might have been able to get it. yes, davis handed the ball to the ref but that was after the whistle had sounded and the lsu players abandoned the play

of course, this is all missing the point. the play was fubar all the way.

the refs missed the fumble.
that caused them to blow the play dead prematurely.
then, inexplicably, there was no review. even after lsu took a timeout. SHADY

I'm not taking away from LSU. I'm saying if we wanted to keep the refs decisions out of the game we should've executed on those opportunities and not left it up to them to call/not call those PIs at the end. LSU looked good and did what they had to do.

Fair enough. It was a tough close game either way you look at it. You're a solid fan and civil OP in any event. Like you say, a classic LSU Auburn game.

On the last drive, the first PI call the ref threw the flag before the ball was even thrown so I don't know how it was PI. Maybe holding or something that I wasn't watching but not PI.

Here's a link to the highlights of LSU-AU...

2018 - LSU Tigers at Auburn Tigers in 40 Minutes

At the 38:04 mark, you see the replay of the 1st PI call, and hear Danielson say "He held him!".

No way I’m believing those pictures over Stan White. Terrible calls.
