I never want to see us lose again on a game ending play by letting the QB have all day to set up and throw. UT last year now Bama, Auburn before Kirby.

Harrass that QB and make them earn it.

Otherwise, they have been awesome and look forward to the future.

I'd rather have taken the 15y PI for knocking Smith into the dirt off the line, but whatever. Hindsight, y'all.

Yeah... was just a miscue at the worst possible time. I do think it might have been something that we should have spotted from an alignment perspective and called a time out. Particularly on the heels of such a good defensive play... but hindsight is 20:20...

Ultimately, it was 2nd down... still more football to be played even if we'd gotten that one correct.

Those are completely different types of plays though. Auburn and UT are hail marys. That was a 2nd down where we just needed to keep everything underneath. Parrish didn't jam Smith, and Sanders was out of position.

I understand your feelings, but in their defense....I was expecting a short to middle pass to try to get back in field goal range. You bring extra bodies for pressure in that situation and you are giving them an opportunity to break it for a long gain. I can't blame the staff for their choice, but it was wrong and it cost us. It was one of thsoe things. if they had tried for a short to middle arse like a screen or something we probably would have stopped them for little to no gain, or maybe an INT.

Defense is a gambel you are gambling they are going to do one thing and you adjust accordingly.

Had Sanders not froze for a second, he would have been in position to break that pass up if not intercept. Their QB looked him off and that 1 second was the difference. Everyone in the building was expecting a 10-15 yard pass attempt. Their QB saw Sanders freeze and knew he had a good chance that the WR would streak by Parrish as he was playing way off the line. Only a poorly thrown ball or a WR drop could have saved us at that point. What a shame it ended like that.
