Ever wish the Alma Mater was a bigger part of Bama tradition?

Yeah, ours is a little cookie cutter considering it features the most used melody for an alma mater ever, but it's still our school song that reminds you, hey we're more than a football team, we're a university.
Oddly enough I heard it a few times outside of the Million Dollar Band, who sing it at the end of each game, in the months after 4.27.11 and John Servati's death as the ending lines "Until in Heaven we meet" had special significance.
Do you wish we, as a fan base, involved it more or are you fine.... or just not care?

I really don't care about the alma matter. Maybe if it wasn't something so cookie cutter like you said. After going to school there for 4 years, I think I heard it a total of maybe 4 times.

I think that is the root of the problem, it has no 'marketing' and most people don't know the words, even at Mal Moore's memorial.... in Coleman Coliseum.... with alums, admins and about 8 full varsity teams in attendance, when the announcer asked everyone to sing at the end... like 12 people even knew the words. (pretty sure they were all MDB members).

They used to play it before kickoff right before the Star Spangled Banner. IMO, they need to bring it back.
I'm sure a lot of our sidewalkers could benefit by listening to it.

Couldn't care less... no cheerleaders, MDB, or non relatives showed up to support my team. I don't think we even had "yea, alabama" on tape to play at meets lol. I have no shame in admitting I know 0 words of it.

...........ok?
And to the op yes, I wish we played our Alma Mater more. It's not too long, and if we put the words on the jumbotrons everyone would know it. Marketing only gives us so much field time for pregame, I guess we don't have enough time to play. We do sing it after every game though.

I'm not sure I've ever heard it before

I would like to see it be a bigger deal, but really, it is so completely generic, that I don't really care. It doesn't mention anything that makes UA special at all and is a bit too long, so it certainly has that going against it.
ETA: I have seen a few students stay and sing it, but most probably wouldn't know it if they heard it. Isn't the band playing it relatively new?

The only time I've heard it sung has been at commencement. I think they should try to incorporate it more personally.

We've been singing it for as long as I can remember. In fact we taught the rookies today.
We DO, however, play it at half time during homecoming.

Think I heard the alma matter one time during my entire time at Bama. Couldn't tell you any of the words if you put a gun to my head.

I'm not sure about that game, since I wasn't there. But as far as I can remember, we sang after every game (except the Iron Bowl last year).

I think it would be nice to see the team go over to the MDB and then sing it after every game.

I'd wish they do that too.

When Stephanie Smith was the WBB coach she had her team do that after the game. Nothing like watching them get beat by 20+ every game then having them stand there chatting with each other while we played the Alma Mater in an empty Coleman
