UT AD Dave Hart confirmed during presser that offer was made for additional two years at a $500,000 raise which would have placed him around $1.82 million annually and among top 30 paid coaches in country.

That's odd. All of the UT posters on here said that Hart pushed him out.

Martin wanted to weigh his options, decisions...all signs were pointed towards him staying, but everyone in Knoxville was surprised with today's announcement.
Martin also did not meet with his players at Tennessee unlike, gasp, Lane Kiffin, who did meet with players, media prior to exit.

So much for the to Hart thread.

I just wanted to clarify statements from all that he was forced out, pushed out, etc. Quite false. I am now just leaving the presser myself.

so what does this mean we should do with hart?
Praise him, burn him at the stake or take a stance of indiffernece?

No, majority of fans and donors wanted him gone. But UT did give him an opportunity to stay. This was on Zo.
That being said, Tennessee will end up with a better coach IMO and someone who is a better "fit"
Dave Hart did emphasize finding a "fit"

Tennessee's extension offer to Martin would have placed Martin 8th in the SEC in salary. Would have had lowest buyout in league. Martin has 3rd most SEC wins since taking over in 2011.
I am fine with this. Hart lowballed him. I have serious doubts an offer was even made, but this is the right way to save face.

Hart was being politically correct IMO. He offered the raise and extension likely knowing Cuonzo wanted out and gave him time to weigh his options, etc.
He did nothing but praise Martin and came out of presser looking like a peach. He did acknowledge the "passionate fan base" and was about all he said on that.

Why does this matter? You hillbillies will make it impossible for the AD or coach to do work. Good luck on the coaching search.
