My guess is because of women’s bowling.

Why is Vanderbilt still playing athletics in the nation’s premier conference?

They’re getting a team soon. It’ll be announced in the next year or so.

They would if they would tear down that stupid hospital.

Or get rid of that ugly Parthenon across the street. Why is Nashville worshiping a bunch of hairy Greek pedophiles anyway?

Nashville has a PROUD softball tradition. I still remember going to the Conway Twitty Celebrity All Star game at Greer stadium. Dolly Parton committed 10 errors at first base and the crowd yelled "show your tits!" Ray Stevens entertained the crowd with his hijinks. Good times.

"Every year or every two years we go back and look at what we have and what we would like to have," Vanderbilt athletic director David Williams said. "I think that if we ever get to the position where we want to expand softball and volleyball would be the first two. Right now, it's not on our radar. We've done all the due diligence.

"I would say that if you look at those two, volleyball would be ahead of softball only because of the facility. We have a place we can play volleyball. We'd have to build (a softball stadium) and we really don't own any more land."

Vanderbilt doesn’t advertise it for some reason but they’re dropping a ton of money on facilities right now. The football stadium is being redone, all new football locker rooms, a second indoor practice field is being constructed, new men’s and women’s basketball facilities, new tennis facilities, a second deck added to Hawkins Field with a roof over it, restaurant in right field, seats on top of the green monster in left, suites for Hawkins field that over look the football and baseball stadiums both, plus a lot more. Too much to list
