37 catches, 707 yards, 11 TD so far
Hard to research this kind of stuff but I’m not sure any true freshman tight end has been that productive in CFB history. At least not in the SEC.

Not sure Diddles.
But after hours of research, I CAN confirm Arik Gilbert is tied for the WORST season for a Sophomore TE in FBS history!

Are you sure? Arik Gilbert is an SEC Eastern Division Champion! Also he’s not a TE

Was in Athens when Kentucky came to town and he was unreal. Very special talent

Yesterday an LSU fan said Jack Bech (who isn’t even a real TE) is better.
Bowers has 218 more yards and 8 more TDs. No one can compete with the delusion of LSU fans

The even cooler part is he shares his snaps with Darnell Washington and Fitzpatrick, both above-average TE's. And he's still getting those numbers, and on a team that passes a lot less than other teams due to many big leads early in games.

I mean, that’s pretty impressive it self. I don’t know who he is but how is his blocking ?

There's room for improvement, but he's a true freshman. He's not bad, he doesn't have any gaff plays where he completely whiffs on blocks or anything like that, but he still blocks kind of like a high schooler, doesn't block through a guy, SEC style. Yet.

I have to admit. When you guys fixate, you d=fixate.
Lincoln Riley. Arik Gilbert. Jimbo Fisher.

he is good all around. I think a better pass catcher than blocker, but still a good blocker.

Possibly one of the best. TE is a lot like OL in that freshman rarely can play, much less at an elite level.
