Well I was never a hire Jimbo guy in the first place

Yeah, you wanted Chad freaking Morris, so excuse us if we dont think your judgment/analysis is as spot on as it could be.

Hell, I don't even think there is an issue w/his overall scheme. If he'd let somebody else call plays on offense so can focus more on other things I might change my mind but we all know that's just never going to happen.

In the same breath I will agree with you here. I think this is the biggest rift between Jimbo supporters and haters right now. We all can agree his playcalling on gameday leaves something to be desired. Most of the other aspects of his coaching are good (recruitment, player development, etc.) but calling plays and adjusting on the fly is something he doesnt do well.

Us supporters have hope he will get the right guys in that can handle his complex system and he gets a little better at calling plays, maybe gets someone as a "consultant" or assistant to help out. I do agree that he probably wont hire an OC which would be the easiest fix to this problem.

Yall haters pretty much assume he will never change and we will continue to lose games with good talent because his offense is too sophisticated and we wont have the players.

I guess time will tell who is right. To me it does no good wailing and gnashing teeth about it right now because he's definitely not getting fired this year, probably not even next unless we go 2-10 or something. But if we dont get 10+ next year I will say his seat will be plenty warm. Yes the buyout is huge but I'm guessing if a change needed to be made they could do it within a year or two if need be. Plenty of big $$$$ Ags out there still. I am hoping we dont need that and build stability and double digit win seasons with Jimbo but hes got a lot to prove.

I think we can all agree, no matter how you feel about Jimbo, next year is a big year for him and his coaching tenure at A&M. Not by any means saying he'll get fired or even a hot seat but if they come out and have another "mehh" season. It's gonna start rolling that way

I've already said I was wrong about him and he would have been a mistake HOWEVER Morris would have been very easy to move on from and w/how Pittman is doing likely wouldn't have left any real damage to the program. With Jimbo we are flat out stuck b/c of the deal it took to get him. I'm not sure it was even necessary to throw the bank at him b/c it seems like both sides were ready to move on regardless of what we did.

I mean... after 4 years of watching him call games I'm fairly confident he's not going to change the way he does things on game day. That was something FSU fans warned us about that most just waived off as their fans being butthurt. They also told us that b/c of the way he calls games we were going to play a lot of teams that we are far more talented than much closer than we should and that's also come true. This is stuff that has been going on since before he was here.

That's essentially what Darrel Dicky does. Dude has the GOAT job ever. Gets the title of OC/QB coach and but Jimbo does all the heavy lifting. I'm super jealous of him TBH.

I have zero faith in that. We held onto both Fran and Sumlin for much longer than we needed to b/c our big money Ags did not want to spend to get rid of them and were too far gone w/sunk cost fallacy to see what needed to be done. Jimbo's contract is so large that he's going nowhere until 2029 at the earliest and that's only if we don't extend him for the slightest amount of success like we did after last season.

And hey, I very badly want to be wrong. I really do. But if he keeps it up as the playcaller... well... we are going to need a transcendent QB to overcome his game management.
