Lived several years in both NW and NE Georgia. For me, NW has a slower pace, more affordable and looks like NE Georgia used to before all the strip malls and subdivisions overran it. Calhoun is nice, stay away from Dalton city but county is good. Murray County is beautiful as well.
May want to consider getting just across the line into TN and you’ll have no state income taxes.

TBH it’s one of the only reasons I’ve stuck to the TN side of the border so far.

Bradley and Polk counties are good options. Mainly west of Cleveland towards Tellico Plains and Murphy (NC).
