Dalton and Chatsworth

My old stomping ground and when I go back to visit…man it’s gotten rough. Not the same as back in the day.

I always thought the land between Calhoun and Chatsworth on 225 or along 411 up by Carter’s was pretty. Rolling but not too severe. If I came back I’d shoot for that or something near Ellijay.

BTW had a lot of good times at Yesterday’s in Chattavegas back in the olden times.

My memory of Chatsworth as a kid was definitely better than what it looks like now. It doesn’t look much different from parts of Dalton these days. I do like the areas just outside of town though.

Really nice drive through there. I much prefer Ellijay over Chatsworth or Dalton.

Nice! Don’t know many people who are familiar with Yesterday’s. I don’t recall when they closed that place down, but I used to drive by the building regularly with the sign still intact when I worked for the Chattanooga Times - just a few blocks down the road. They recently renovated the place into an apartment complex with several businesses where the bar used to be-think they renamed it the “Tomorrow Building”.

My wife and I just bought a lot in Ellijay...or just outside of it, actually. Beautiful lot with view of the mountains and a small neighborhood lake.

I have a lot just outside of Hiawassee in between Hiawassee and Hayesville, NC....we just put it up for sale.

Both are very nice places and have a lot to offer as far as mountain amenities. Apple Orchards, wineries, fairs and then they both have touristy mountain shops as well as regular shopping like Home Depot, WalMart in different areas of the towns to preserve the mountain feel.

Dalton gets a lot of illegals for some reason these days. I think the carpet mills draw them.

We are very happy with our lot in Ellijay, though. We will build in about 2-3 years when the wife retires. (I married a young 'un)

ETA
Check out lots in Falling Waters in Ellijay.

Here are a couple of examples in Falling Waters:
