I would lean towards Joan Jett.

She's very long in the tooth right now but God bless her, she's hung around being a rock star when most of her contemporaries are either retired or dead from drug overdoses.

Freddie Mercury actually is the right answer in today's world, but if we are going with females by birth I would say either Benatar, Turner, or Ronstadt.

No, you are an idiot. Need more than a couple of albums or 4-5 years of activity to be considered the Queen of Rock and Roll.

Tough to say who's #1 but Pat, Stevie, Joan Jett and either Wilson sister is part of the conversation....then add in Janis.

With no insult intended to her I've always thought of Janis as more of a R&B singer kind of pigeon holed into Rock'n Roll than a rock star.

But I admit I'm splitting hairs with that one.
