But Mike Norvell is 6-12 and still has his job at FSU in year two

Are they waiting for Norvell to win three more games before they fire him?

Well, the eye test says that FSU is moving in a different direction. Taggart's tenure was a s show.

Jimbo really did a number on that program.

I don't know. The eye test looks like they're still running in neutral at best. Maybe they've played a couple more competitive games this year, but they also lost to Jacksonville St, have a 3-6 record, and could easily lose to any of the three teams remaining on their schedule. I don't know how you don't pull the plug on Norvell if he finishes 3-9 or 4-8 with a less than stellar recruiting class coming in next year

I think Norvell needs one more year to know for sure because you really can't judge him on last year being a first year coach in a COVID year.

Did you miss the Jackson State players planting their flag at mid field in celebration as a brave FSU player proposed in the endzone?

Except fla st. is competitive, as it were, while W.T. got blown out by everybody! Fla St. is slowly getting the train back on it's tracks.. recruiting is going much better and there is a different vibe in TALLAHASSEE!

I'm not sure that Florida State can do the two-year firing move twice in four years. That job is in danger of being like the Tennessee job was, where your money is just no good.

I doubt Norvell gets the time he will need to have success at FSU. I would have been happy with his hire at Arkansas, at least for a while.

Jimbo's last year there was a shite show. 6-6 and had to make up a game from earlier in the season so they could make a bowl. Finished with a losing record in the ACC for the first time since they joined, and had academic issues. Taggart wasn't going to walk into that situation and have immediate success. I still feel they fired him way too prematurely, they were trying to fire him in his first year FFS.

Jimbo's been gone for four years. He's not the reason they are bad now. Yes he didn't leave the program in the best shape but to keep blaming him for current failure is just continuing to make excuses.

Yeah...now. They wanted Taggart fired just the year after Jimbo left though, and fired him midseason the next year. Didn't even get a full 2 years. I'm not blaming Jimbo for today's state of the program, I'm blaming the admins for blowing up something that wasn't given enough time to be built

No one knew how big a shite show FSU really was. Jimbo sat on his arse and they were almost academically shut down. No discipline, numerous washouts in selecting QBs, 0-Line disintegrated to NOTHING, a piss ant would have knocked the line down.
Taggert came in, they could not even line up correctly on offense or defense. Taggert and staff bombed in recruiting. Taggert played buddy with the players and they ran all over him off the field. NO QB or O-Line development.
Norvell comes in and inherits a mess from not ONE but TWO Coaches. It looks like the players have bought into Norvell. They play hard, reduced penalties, only 2 last game, and academics have improved dramatically. Gradual talent improving but the next 2 classes are looking really good. Norvell has been able to use the portal to grab a few players also to fill holes. If the O-Line continues their upward trajectory, a winning season is entirely possible next. Then a few playmakers and a 9 win season in 2 years. i personally think he has 3 years. Anything beyond that is a wild guess.
I have family in the Athletic Department, I get a few tibbits a long.

I agree, they do look like a more cohesive ans harder playing team now.

But with them and Miami mostly struggling lately less excuse for Florida to not be a dominant player nationally.

absolute bullshite

Willy Taggart was successful at WKU, then South Florida, then turned Oregon around in one decent year from Helfrich's mess, then got FSU in shambles

you are just literally making shite up

Norvell's team sucks this year, probably the worst team in FSU history
