Bama has had some great defenses, but I can’t recall when I’ve seen a more suffocating defense than what Georgia is putting out there this year.
I mean, the 2011 Alabama defense didn't allow their opponent in the national championship game to cross the 50 yard line but once and they promptly had a strip sack on the next play.
If that isn't suffocating defense then I don't know what to tell you.
ETA: That 2011 LSU team averaged 41 points a game outside of their two games against Alabama. They scored 9 total points in over 8 quarters.

That was a derelict offense that averaged about 350 yards per game and had a QB who couldn’t start for a lot of high schools in Louisiana.

Fair point, but the game has changed significantly since then. Georgia is playing suffocating defense in an era where almost nobody plays defense anymore. It’s all zone stuff, keep everything in front of you, soft coverage bend-don’t-break stuff these days coupled with the fact that you can barley lay a hat on somebody and they call you for targeting.
UGA isn’t even that good yet on offense. Porn Stache has been hurt half the year. I will be pulling for Bama to beat UGA if that’s the SECCG, but I don’t see it happening. UGA is 3 scores better than anyone in the country right now and that includes Alabama.

LSU was a one dimensional offense. It didn't matter who they played. Their STs and defense were elite. Scored a lot of points or set them up with very short fields. It's one of the worst offenses to be in a championship game in last ten years. They were good at running the football, but if you had an elite defense, it wasn't that hard to devise a plan to stop them.
