some UGA fans AND Kentucky fans complained about Stoops calling the timeout w/3-seconds left in the game in order to try and score. They did.

But, Kirby Smart had no problem with Stoops' decision:

“Mark’s got a job to do,” Smart told reporters on Saturday. “He’s trying to compete and score. I mean why not? That’s what he came here to do, win the game and score points. I respect that. They had a long drive there.”

Without a doubt, any complaining by fans of both sides had to do with losing $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ on the point spread -- 100%.

You win some, you lose some. Sorry.

Any coach knows you play till the end of the game. Only gambling junkies don't like it.

It was free practice and snaps for a team that hasn't really been challenged.

Stoops did Kirby a favor.

LSU called a timeout at Kyle Field last year with like 20 seconds left in game to avoid shutout. It isn’t that rare to call late timeouts.

It's tuesday. No one is even talking abotu this anymore so not sure why this thread was needed. The only thing that slightly rankles me about the topis is that stoops had less than zero urgency to score the entire 4th quarter. They had an 11+ minute drive where MULTIPLE times they let the play clock get down under 5 seconds. If you're hellbent on scoring as much as you can within 60 minutes you aren't going to plod at that pace. And why not go for 2 after the TD?

Would agree if he was running a 2 minute drill down multiple score instead of a 10 minute drill.

More aggravated with the refs not reviewing the Nevis fumble at the goal line, he was still very much in play when our guy stripped it. Many teams score on secobd effort at the goal.

I would imagine Kentucky not playing until the whistle early in the game contributed to that drive. The fumble that Milton recovered that was right in front of a Kentucky player and that he could have recovered easily is probably the most glaring example but there were more.

I thought it was the right thing to do as well. Reward the team and teach we don't ever quit even in an already determined loss.

Yes. Why wouldnt you?
When we get the ball in the 4th, we run and bleed clock. In the final 11+ minutes of the game, there were only 22 snaps. That is exactly the goal of what we wanted to close out the game (shorten it. Fewer snaps equals fewer injuries).
Kirby wanted us to stuff them. Stoops wanted to punch it in. Of course he was going to call a timeout after investing 11 minutes and 21 snaps so far.

It’s like amateur baseball or soccer, where the score differential counts so they try to blow the other team out.

We don’t have an exact playoff system like the NFL so it’s Stoops job to perform for pollsters who likely only look at the scores Sunday morning.

11 minute 75 yard drive. Loves the pride on both sides end of the game.

Still wonder if QB fumbled on next to last play and why it wasn’t reviewed. Pretty sure they left it alone thinking game was over.
