Best Army MOS

I have my pick of ARMY MOS, which one should I take.
I'd like to work for a defense contractor afterwards. Maybe a 3 letter agency but I'm already old so probably not going to use time doing that and go straight for the big money.

Its been too long for me to chime in but do not make the mistake I made. I crushed the ADSVAB and had my choice of what MOS I wanted... and my recruiter talked me into going infantry.
At your age I'd suggest something in the computers field. They always need IT guys and if you have a high security clearance (which you should if you can finagle a Pentagon type job) they'll be fighting to sign you at a Federal agency.

Damn dude... You didn't simply get screwed, he raped you with a Blackzilla sized prick... No lube and absolutely no mercy...
How TF did you ever let him talk you into that deal? Did you want to try out for the 75th or something?

I honestly have no clue, it was quite possibly the dumbest thing I have ever done in my life... and that covers some territory.
The embarrassing thing to look back on is the people who administered the ASVAB asked me afterwards what I was going in as and when I told them they looked at me like I'd grown another head. My own father, a Lt. Colonel in the Army (and an infantry commander in Vietnam), suggested I do something else and I didn't. Not my shining moment of glory I tell you.

Wow. There are 3 MOS that are given to the "lowest tier" of recruits. Like if you have a GED, score barely enough on the ASVAB, etc.
Infantry is one of them.
I'd hate my recruiter if I were you. Did he also put you in that death box Bradley?

It was the worst decision I ever made in my life. And I came this close to marrying a psychotic woman who had spent time in mental health institutions so that covers some ground. 51 year old me winces looking 18 year old me.
Oddly enough, 21 year old me was making decent financial decisions and doing well. For whatever reason I just completely lost it then.

I was 19k, so I didn't do much better.

Whatever gets you to army future command in Austin.

Your life ambitions and goals will most likely change a few times as you see the world and it changes around you.
Honestly, pick the MOS which you are most interested in and everything else will work out. You can always reclass after a few years.

Take the DLAB and learn Arabic or Farsi or something. That would be a huge step towards an agency job.

I was a mechanized IN PL in Iraq. For all of its faults, the Bradley stood up pretty damn well to IEDs. I wouldn't be here had I been in uparmored HMMWVs. I love the Bradley.

Also, I tested out of the dlab so I don't need to take it to qualify for any job, just will have to take it to determine what I get assigned to, but I took the practice test and honestly I'm not very good with that kind of stuff.

Most likely it was the proudest. Being your own man, calling your shots.
Own it, accept it, respect it. You wouldn't be "you" otherwise.

35m is a good background for gov't and/or contractor work. just make sure you go to a ranger batt if you go the 35m route.
you will need to learn a language, they'll send you to school. the dlab is just another aptitude test similar to the asvab, just for language potential. i don't think it's necessary, but it's been a while since i was in.
if you aren't gonna try out for the 75th, having some type of jsoc exp is very helpful for getting contract work. also depends on what you wanna do for gov't after service is over. being with a jsoc unit will be more important than being a 35m.
i know they had an 18 series enlistment for awhile, they still might. that's a good route for what you wanna do.

Ok the last two people suggested special forces, I'm 35 years old lol. I am not worried about physically qualifying but I don't know if I could even get invited to SF at my age.

that's pretty cut and dry. just see what the age requirement is.
