How can anybody continue to have a career in any sort of "journalism" after doing something like this?

“Journalism” has always been a field filled with sham publications and journalists. You can actually find archived newspapers from decades ago where just about every article reads like it was written by a struggling 5th grader and 50-80% of the paper is just completely made up nonsense.

The news we have access today is honestly probably much more reliable than those circulating in the southeast 100 years ago, it’s just that people actively avoid going out of their political bubble for coverage despite having unprecedented opportunity to do so.
