Why are we not altering our defensive alignment?

They’re eschewing the pass and gashing us for 5.5 yards a carry, yet we continue to roll with 3 man (or 2 and a shade) fronts.

Thats the roster we have. Works well against finesse teams. Not so much against the power run. UGA's got some maulers on the O-line partially thanks to our coach.

I kinda agree with Odom on this I think. I'm not sure another linemen would make a difference. Vs having our best athletes on the field. Idk might not hurt to try it though and see.

Our 3-3-5 alignment helps mask our lack of elite speed in the backfield and makes coverage nightmares for the opposing QBs when their bread is buttered in the passing game. This will work well for teams that don't have elite talent all around like Bama and UGA, but those two just have too much horsepower to scheme around.
Our "rush 3, drop 8" alignment will work well against OM next week and the rest of our schedule outside of Bama, we need to keep running it and perfecting it. Right now it's our best hope of keeping the play in front of us and covering opposing WRs, forcing the run.

Adding another DL or LB to the front and we will get bombed over the top.
We play the way we do so the other team has to methodically drive without a turnover or penalties.
Also our roster depth is in the secondary so it makes sense to have more of them on the field.
Issues in special teams particularly not forcing long fields don't help us.
Blocked punts, only 30-35 yard avg punts, kickoff return errors, offensively penalties all hurt field position.
JLS said it best, "Special teams are one play battles for giant chunks of land".
