Well, it does work both ways so I'm not sure what to tell you.
If the guy who replaces Saban comes in and does well, a good bit of that is going to be because of what he inherited. For him to prove otherwise, he will need to maintain it for a good period of time.
But if a guy comes in after and does badly, that doesn't mean Saban left the program in bad shape, it means the guy Alabama hired is really really really shitty. You can literally see that everything was already where it needed to be when they came in. If they couldn't win with it, that's on them.

Why?
Jimbo didn’t collapse within the next three years after his BCS championship; he won the conference and made the playoffs the following year, had 10 win seasons the next two years, and then he had a bad year. Since he’s been at A&M, you can argue he’s been overpaid but they’re better than they were under Sumlin; he’s led ‘em to three straight bowl wins and he finished # 4 last year while being a playoff contender. Even so, if he loses 4 games this year, with the money he makes, his seat will get a lot warmer…
Chizik followed his with a very mediocre season and then followed that up with a terrible season by any stretch…
O had a mediocre to bad season last year and I don’t think he can afford a losing season this year, especially considering LSU’s current AD didn’t hire him. Not saying O can’t rebound but he needs to have a 10-win season either this year or next and/or a good run at a conference championship/playoff at least every three years or so in between…

The very last name/word before you asked why is why. It's Jimbo's affiliation with Saban that makes him more credible in many fans eyes. I don't know if that is right or wrong but that is the reason.

The difference is only the fact that Jimbo calls his own plays and is an SEC level OC. Cheezecock and O can't say that.
