How much has current uniform technology improved play on the field?

I think it’s a huge improvement in results.

From top to bottom

Helmets to cleats.

Everything is lighter and more flexible.

No more restrictions by wearing pads.

A VERY interesting question.

I remember the days (1988-1992) playing high school football with those BIG arse frickING SHOULDERPADS that would shave 0.3 off your 40 time.

It isn't a coincidence that as pads have gotten less bulky and cleats more aerodynamic that football has gotten faster. Guys can just move quicker. That's obviously not the only reason, but it helps

Should go back to allowing crop tops for maximum efficiency.

The Boz agrees

Runners more aerodynamic.

Receivers more nimble.

Quarterbacks more mobile.

Kickers kicking further.

Something about aesthetics.

They showed his highlights on the Eli Manning ESPN+ show last night and when he runs they look even bigger than that. It's insane

I think the smaller lighter pads have really changed the game.

My concern is players now have no knee pads or even have pants that cover their knees in many cases. How can that not increase injury risk?

Ricky Jackson for the Saints was the first guy that went with no pads in his pants.

The WRs must have the most improvements

The range in motion with their arms has to be huge.

And this is only going back (20years ago?)
