Y’all will realize that Sanders is probably the best LB outside of Will Anderson soon enough.

I assume Nick and staff took a look at Sanders as an ILBer but determined that wasn't his best gig. He has football savvy you can tell.

I'm not sure the info in SOG's links really tells the whole story, especially for 2020.
Our defense was TERRIBLE at the beginning of the year last year. We allowed 19 points to Missouri, 24 to A&M, 48(!) to Ole Miss, and 24 to Georgia. The Georgia game was actually a pleasant surprise; most of us were assuming we'd get killed based on what Ole Miss did to us the week before.
After that, though, the defense was stifling. Until the SEC Championship Game, we allowed 17 (TN), 0 (MSU), 3 (KY), 13 (AU), 17 (LSU) and 3 (ARK) points. Now, none of those teams were exactly offensive juggernauts, but the defense obviously turned a corner beginning with the Georgia game.
The last three games of the year were against Florida, Notre Dame, and Ohio State, and you'd expect to see some breakdowns against teams of that caliber and in those situations (all essentially playoff games). Even with that, though, the only bad game was Florida; the defense played exceptionally well against ND and OSU.

I really like what I've seen out of him so far. He has great bend and he has pretty damn good instincts when he trusts them.
That play he made blowing up the throwback screen was beautiful.
