1. Hire a coach people think is a joke
2. Get ridiculed all off-season
3. Play for a championship in year 1 of the coach's tenure
4. Everybody shuts up for a year or 2.
5. Coach turns out to be a joke and gets fired
6. Start again at step 1.
It's kind of uncanny...

Harsin has a way better resume than Bowden, Tubs, Chizik, and Malzahn. So we’ll see

To be fair the 2013 team had some horses on the online. Our oline this year is basically a bunch of 300lb road cones so I don’t think our year 1 magic will materialize.

Play for a championship in year 1 of the coach's tenure
1981 - Dye's first year. They were 5-6. In 1982 they went 9-3 and beat Bama for the first time in a decade. In 1983 AU should have won the NC (got robbed by the polls).
1993 - Bowden's first year. 11-0. Bowden I think won something like 20 games in a row. After Dye's players graduated, he sucked.
2009 - Chiz's first year was OK. 2010 National championship. Then Chiz took a nosedive and was fired.
2013 - Gus's first year. SEC champs and National championship appearance. Gus didn't take a dive as fast as Chiz, but the league figured him out after a few seasons.
2021 - Harsin's first year. FEELS like 2010 or 2013. But it could end up just average like 2009. If this year is average, we coming next year for it all. It's the Auburn way.
(Note: The only exception to this rule was Tubs in 1999. But Bowden left the cupboard so bare and devoid of talent, no coach was going to win anything. It took Tubs a few years to build the team. In 2004 AU should have won the NC).
Judging by past history, EVERY AU coach since Dye has won SEC championships, had perfect seasons, won the NC or played for the NC. No reason to believe Harsin will be different.

quote:While the first part was accurate (Bowden was a gawdawful recruiter, and it showed) it it didn't take Tubs that long to turn things around - in his 2nd year AU went 9-2 regular season (only two losses were to #24 MSU and #10 Florida, back-to-back on the road) and won the West.

Tubbs was DC at Miami when they were winning NC every year. HC at SEC west school, Harsin doesn't come close to that.

We are the roller coaster. Being an Auburn fan is not like any other fandom experience. Remember when you were a kid and you rode that first really big roller coaster? It is scary as hell, but it is also so much fun!
