Sankey plans to implement a new SEC model for equitably scheduling all 16 teams. Here's a thread discussing various options:

Sources: Big 12 Expected to Add Four New Members By End of Next Week (SI)

quote:

Less than six weeks after Texas and Oklahoma announced their impending departure to the SEC, the league is poised to add four new members in a process that could culminate in one week’s time. UCF, Houston, BYU and Cincinnati are expected to apply for Big 12 membership next week and then could be approved for admission in a meeting of Big 12 presidents Sept. 10, multiple sources tell Sports Illustrated.

Probably: 9 SEC games (4 or 5 at home in alternate years); no divisions or pods; 3 regular opponents (rivals) and rotate the other 12 opponents in 6 schedule slots (playing all 12 twice in 4 years)

I’m a much bigger fan of this than pods. Pods are a terrible idea that just force randoms to play each other every year.

and the 2 teams with the best SEC W-L records play in the SEC title game

Oh man I can't wait for a 3-way tie with LSU being the one who gets left out. This place will be a gold mine

Sankey plans to implement a new SEC model for equitably scheduling all 16 teams to play each other much more frequently. Probably: 9 SEC games (4 or 5 at home in alternate years); no divisions or pods; 3 regular opponents (rivals) and rotate the other 12 opponents in 6 schedule slots (playing all 12 twice in 4 years); and the 2 teams with the best SEC W-L records play in the SEC title game. Playing 9 SEC and 3 non-SEC games still allows for 7-8 total home games and the FL-FSU, GA-GT, UK-UL, SC-CU rivalry games.

VS: 3 Regular + 6 Rotating (see AL & AR)
AL: AU, LS, TN + FL, AM, OK, MS, AR, SC
AL: AU, LS, TN + GA, TX, OM, KY, MO, VB
AR: AM, MO, TX + AL, LS, FL, OM, TN, SC
AR: AM, MO, TX + AU, OK, GA, MS, KY, VB
AU: AL, GA, MS
FL: GA, MS, OK
GA: AU, FL, SC
KY: SC, TN, VB
LS: AL, AM, OM
OM: LS, MS, MO
MS: AU, FL, OM
MO: AR, OK, OM
OK: FL, MO, TX
SC: GA, KY, VB
TN: AL, KY, VB
AM: AR, LS, TX
TX: AM, AR, OK
VB: KY, SC, TN

Do not like this because Alabama is the only program that will have 3 Big 6 or OU/Tx as regular opponents. Substitute MSU for LSU or Tenn.

Alabama’s 3 permanent opponents should be Auburn, Tennessee, and Miss St.
