Several points this article makes and seems to confirm what some of us have been saying.

1. The SEC wanted Texas. They wanted Texas more than any other school.
2. Arkansas and South Carolina were options 2 and 3.
3. The SEC did not want Texas A&M.

At the time, I considered Texas to be the big prize. It was Arkansas and Texas, and I'm not sure that talks with other schools even began until after Texas pulled out. FSU was the big one, but lots of talk about Miami, too. South Carolina seemed to appear out of nowhere and the only mentions of A&M seemed wishful, at best.
