Every time A&M starts a new QB, or any team breaks in a new QB, I think, well it can’t be as bad as the hype and start of Jeremy Johnson, knock on wood. I remember everyone talking about how elite this guy was and he started throwing ducks against Louisville, Auburn still won the game. Taught me not to pre hype new QB’s.

Tho I remember watching the game, but I wasn’t around here to understand why he was getting Heisman type hype before he started?

If I recall correctly, he started against Arkansas and dropped some dimes on them while Marshall was suspended for the first half. Looked really, really good. He had potential, just had terrible habits and couldn't deal with the pressure.

I guess that's easier than his Arik Gilbert takes.

I remember I even bought the hype, I was telling people “this guy is supposed to be great” smh, tho now I don’t understand the Bo Nix hate on here, he had a sweet play on A&M when things broke down, I’d argue he needs a better OL to start

Kenny Trill [sic] was legit after his opener vs SC.

The only road game he won in two years of starting was at TAMU.

Kenny definitely stunk it up against top tier teams, but I think he put up 500 yards on South Carolina that started his hype, but he was not good

I think he did lead TCU to the Big 12 championship one year, but idk if that’s good or bad now

Because he had some experience already at Auburn.

Started against Arkansas and looked damn good. 12-16 272 yds 2 TDs 0 INT in only the first half.

He also looked good in every other appearance but they were against cupcakes.

Should’ve known Arkansas was just another cupcake to pad stats against

Our season completely hinges on it, so you aren't wrong.

Our defenses produced many Heisman contending QBs for other teams.

I’m not arguing that, like someone said, we had Kenny Trill get Heisman hype bc if one game and a few cupcake wins, but Jeremy was consensus pre season Heisman favorite even by the media before his first snap his starting season

With guys like Kenny or Jeremy, I never know if you’re supposed to keep starting them or sit them when they have tough games

Everyone was still in awe of the Cam Newton type Qb at that time. Big body, strong arm with legs. JJ checked the boxes.
