Possibly the most interesting decade of college football (the rise of the independents). Thought I'd take a look at the overall winning percentages for the current 16 teams.

Oklahoma - Winning Percentage: 0.780
Georgia - 0.756
Auburn - 0.733
Alabama - 0.723
Arkansas - 0.723
Florida - 0.668
Tennessee - 0.668
Texas - 0.632
LSU - 0.625
Texas A&M - 0.616
South Carolina - 0.561
Ole Miss - 0.451
Mississippi State - 0.446
Kentucky - 0.433
Missouri - 0.416
Vanderbilt - 0.302

You can remove all teams that weren’t in the SEC in the 80s

Mizzou 1984 was Warren Power's last season where the wheels fell off the program. Woody Widenhofer was just a traumatic hire with the administration not putting money in the program. Bob Stull was hired in 1989 after Woody couldn't win more than 5 games in a season, and despite a great coaching staff, or what would become one (Dirk Koetter, Andy Reid), Stull couldn't win more than 4. Larry Smith was hired in 1994 and brought back respectability. I blame the school admin for the lack of trying for almost 15 years. The crazy thing is we were a top 10 program in the 60's, and a good program in the 70's.
